Bless her heart.
Another X user just discovered that ground beef doesn't grow on trees and decided the entire "just cook at home" crowd needs a stern talking-to after staring down a single package of 80/20 that somehow fails to transform into a banquet.
Nothing says economic hardship quite like carefully photographing the price tag on a pound-and-a-quarter of meat and declaring the meatball math a national crisis. The replies, predictably, turned into a masterclass in "maybe try shopping somewhere else" and bulk-buy flexes, because nothing unites the internet faster than someone acting shocked that food costs money.
Just cook at home they say. This will make MAYBE 12 meatballs if I stretch it. pic.twitter.com/sC73HeM2A8

Ugh, the burrito wars.
People were happy to call her out on many levels ... many of them suggesting ways to use that expensive hamburger to make it last.
I have a 500 meatball recipe using that exact amount of ground beef.
— MetaNynja (@MetaNynja) August 10, 2026
500 meatball recipe:
- 1.26lbs ground beef
- 20 cups of bread crumbs
- 200 eggs (include the shells)
.....
Gotta use some Saw Dust to pad those meatballs out (do not do this !!!) :P

One cup of oats to one tablespoon of ground beef!

This is why I buy a quarter cow at five dollars a pound

Recommended
For highly seasoned dishes like chili & meatloaf/ meatballs, I use half ground beef & half ground turkey. 1# chub of frozen ground turkey is $2.19 at my local Aldi.

Choices have consequences!
It's only $8.49 a pound Mid-nowhere TN.
And that's before sales tax.
And it's less than $5 when we buy it from a local rancher as a half beef.
But - you do you
You chose the price if you bought it.

She did eventually get very defensive:
I love how everyone is concluding that I’m the c**t here for buying and/or posting this.
— Meredith (@FletchHerCox) August 10, 2026
We're not seeing that, exactly. But people are a bit irritated that she tried dunking on making life more affordable by cooking at home instead of ordering DoorDash.
I’M NOT A SOCIALIST.

And the sad 'burrito wars' continue.
IYKYK.
