If you think the state of the legacy media in America couldn't get any worse than the political activists disguised as reporters at CNN, The New York Times, ABC, NBC, and so on, wait'll you get a load of the sports media.
They are FAR worse.
As many people may have seen, last night Sophie Cunningham was mauled on the court by opposing player DiJonai Carrington, resulting in a Flagrant 2 foul and Carrington's ejection from the game.
Because the WNBA isn't actually a sports league, but a haven for wokeness, Carrington, of course, immediately claimed that she was only ejected because of Cunningham's 'white privilege.'
WNBA player DiJonai Carrington blames “white privilege” after being ejected for a hard foul on Sophie Cunningham.

Carrington was given a Flagrant 2 foul and was immediately ejected.
She then apparently rushed to the locker room so she could blame “white privilege.” pic.twitter.com/f97XWEXlEx
This type of reaction is so tiresome that it's become boring. We would only have been shocked if Carrington claimed anything else.
Hard fouls and physical play happen in sports, even women's sports. It's part of the game. But it's funny how, in the WNBA, those physical plays seem to happen to two specific players more than anyone else.
Riley Gaines summed up what is actually going on in the league:

Not to mention that the foul Carrington committed goes well beyond physical play, and approaches the vicinity of criminal assault.
The WNBA knows better than to play games down here in Florida, because I’ll be charging people with assault. https://t.co/wryaIdyFz3

There are many things the Left gets away with in other states that they would NEVER try in Florida.
But that brings us to the media. As the clip above shows, even the game announcers were shocked at the violence of Carrington's foul on Cunningham, and said that she deserved to be ejected.
Sports Illustrated, on the other hand, saw the entire incident slightly differently.
Sports Illustrated’s headline is “Sophie Cunningham got a bitter taste of karma” by getting clotheslined. Sports media is broken. It’s way more left wing than political media. pic.twitter.com/svrY06F0JP

See? Because Cunningham dared utter the words of sanity and common sense — that men do not belong in women's sports — she DESERVED to have her head nearly taken off by Carrington.
We clearly do not hate them enough.
This is what 'karma' looks like to Sports Illustrated writer Kristen Wong.

Wong is not a reporter. She is a communist who hates white women, and she is on a vendetta.
The great X account @mazemoore assembled some of her other 'fair and balanced' coverage of Cunningham and teammate Caitlin Clark.
Here's some more "journalism" from the Sports Illustrated writer who wrote that Sophie Cunningham got a "bitter taste of karma."

She definitely has a thing for Cunningham and Clark.
This is the stuff Sports Illustrated is putting out. It has fallen so far.

Yikes!
If there wasn't already a fantastic horror movie in 2026 called "Obsession", one could easily make one about Wong's near-psychotic fixation on the two Indiana Fever stars.
But this is what most legacy sports media is like these days.
Holy moly. How do these people keep their jobs? Zero journalistic honesty, just pure bias. https://t.co/nj2jg8gDXJ
— Riley Gaines (@Riley_Gaines_) August 8, 2026
The legacy sports media tried the same thing with NHL star Ivan Provorov when he was one of the first to refuse to bow to the LGBTQ+ mob.
They failed with him. They will fail with Cunningham. So, instead, they're just hoping someone cripples her on the court so she can't play anymore.
Honestly, screw these people. Sports journalism has been dead for awhile now. Further proof. So sad. https://t.co/RaeBJSjLZ4

Hey @SInow you advocate violence against people who don't agree with you? Sophie expressed an opinion. She nearly got her head literally taken off. Your "reporter" seems to think that's acceptable. Does that work for people who don't agree w/ her? Should karma come for Miss Wong?
— Jules! (@sparkly_jules1) August 9, 2026
Violence in response to opposing opinions is the new political ideology of the Left.
Satan, come get your demon. I’m kidding. Satan’s demons take notes on ‘journalists’ on how to be more evil.
— Super Journalist (Retired) - JOURN-EL of Skrypton (@Magnum_CK) August 9, 2026
Satan's demons must be learning a LOT from 'journalists' like Wong.
This is fully insane framing https://t.co/llQ3rZnIZw
— Mary Katharine Ham (@mkhammer) August 9, 2026
In other words, it is on brand for the legacy media.
“Woman deserves violence for saying only women belong in women’s sports” is not new. Sophie’s a “TERF” now. She will hear this all day every day. Forever. Or until a majority of people stop allowing this nonsense to continue. https://t.co/ebBXBkDfFU
— Bridget Phetasy (@BridgetPhetasy) August 9, 2026
Cunningham isn't as uncancelable as, say, JK Rowling, but she's a strong woman. If the media thinks they will shame her into silence about biological reality, then they haven't met her.
I really wish that publications like Sports Illustrated would stop hiring mean girls to use their publication as a public diary https://t.co/m5p6abQwiF
— PoIiMath (@politicalmath) August 9, 2026
And it's not just Sports Illustrated. We have seen this with The Athletic (owned by The New York Times), Deadspin, which once tried to cancel a nine-year-old boy for face paint, and, obviously, ESPN, where only woke, left-wing opinions are welcomed.
Sports media really believes its ok to physically harm someone you disagree with politically. https://t.co/R65ARLoKaV
— Tim Young (@TimRunsHisMouth) August 9, 2026
Gosh, we wonder where they could have received the permission structure to believe such things.
It's a real mystery.
Amazingly, Sports Illustrated doesn't even seem to care anymore that they're supposed to be a business that turns a profit.
I will NEVER BUY or read @SInow Ever again👇👇👇 https://t.co/BbViZOahzs
— Rob Schneider 🇺🇸 (@RobSchneider) August 9, 2026
Rob Schneider is not alone.
In 2010, Sports Illustrated boasted more than three million subscribers. To date, in 2026, that number is below 400,000. They have already conducted two rounds of layoffs, in 2024 and 2026, and another round is likely in the works.
If Kristen Wong wants to know what karma tastes like, we can't wait for the next round of pink slips to be handed out at SI.
