'Etched in stone': Basketball great Bill Russell schools Lebron James over his NBA Mount Rushmore gaffe

Fans and admirers paid tribute to basketball legend Bill Russell, who celebrated his 80th birthday at the NBA All Star Game tonight.

The feisty champ delivered a memorable response to Lebron James, who apologized sheepishly for leaving Russell off his list of nominees for NBA’s “Mount Rushmore.” Russell celebrated basketball as a team sport and noted that the 11 championships he won with his teams, not the individual glory, were “etched in stone.”

Slam dunk.
