Apparently, the narrative being pushed is to portray Talarico as nothing more than a fellow Christian with some 'theological differences', while painting Paxton as a dirty adulterer and fraudster.
This is a deliberate false equivalence. It ignores the profound difference between a politician’s personal moral failures and someone who claims to be both a minister and teacher while openly perverting core Christian doctrine and blaspheming God.
Alright I’ve muted “Paxton” and “Talarico”. I’m not fighting w/evangelical GOP anymore. They’re a lost cause right now. All I’ll say is if you won’t stand up against all this at some point, you’ll never force the GOP to choose better candidates. And if you like Paxton, shameful.

We’re not imagining Talarico is blasphemous and heretical. Sorry. https://t.co/2MA9ThsRT1

An evil minister is even more harmful. That’s just reality https://t.co/1lIP2hF8cx

Nothing to see here, just a Republican Senator accusing a Democratic Senate candidate of child sacrifice.

But, hey, don’t you dare criticize Trump as that could lead to political violence. 🤷🏽♂️ https://t.co/tlQYlnN3b9
Ken Paxton wanted the Ten Commandments in every school while boinking a woman who wasn’t his wife and speed running every corruption scandal in the book. If you’re a Christian I know which one is more offensive. https://t.co/ZjfSEievBK

I know at least some of these critics are not Christians, so I don’t expect them to understand Christianity. What is striking, though, is how compelled they feel to lecture Christians about it anyway. It’s telling that these same voices never seem driven to instruct Muslims on the proper practice of Islam. Their theological expertise appears to be highly selective.
The deeper point they’re missing is this: Ken Paxton’s sins—adultery, fraud, and the rest—are personal moral failings. They are serious, they reflect poor judgment, and he will have to answer for them before God. But they are sins against his own character and his own marriage.
Talarico’s situation is fundamentally different. He presents himself publicly as a teacher and a minister. The Bible is unmistakably clear that those who take on such roles are held to a much higher standard.
James 3:1 puts it bluntly: “Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.”
When someone claims spiritual authority and moral leadership, their conduct is no longer merely private—it becomes a matter of public witness and accountability.
Matthew 7:15-20: Jesus warns that false prophets appear as sheep but are inwardly ravenous wolves, and they are recognized by their fruits
Galatians 1:7-9: Paul condemns anyone preaching a gospel contrary to the one originally received
This passage from Romans is all I need. In Romans 16:17, Paul urges believers to watch out for and avoid those who cause divisions and distort the Gospel of Christ.
When people claim God is non-binary, insist there are six genders, twist the Virgin Birth to justify abortion, or argue it’s acceptable to chemically and surgically mutilate children, they are doing exactly what Scripture warns against. These are not minor disagreements or secondary issues. They are direct perversions of the Gospel and the created order.
Believers aren’t called to debate endlessly with such teachers. We’re told to mark them and avoid them.
Romans 16:17-18: Believers are instructed to avoid those who cause divisions and pervert the gospel. 2 Peter 2:1-3: False teachers secretly introduce destructive heresies, exploiting people with deceptive words.
Every time Talarico runs for office, he gains a larger platform and reaches more people with his distorted message.
I will not contribute in any way to helping him spread it. He is a heretic and a blasphemer. Full stop.
The final straw for me was watching him laugh with Tim Miller as they joked about the size of God’s 'hog'.
No true Christian speaks of the Holy One in such a crude, grotesque manner. This isn’t mere irreverence — it’s open blasphemy. He is exactly what Scripture warns about: a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Yesterday, Tim Miller demonstrated to everyone how he and the Bulwark are conserving conservatism. With middle school boy jokes about God and genitals.

All of this in support of Talarico’s policy to trans the children. pic.twitter.com/GITtEkGm1w https://t.co/WNdJsH7Joy
To Christians, God is everything — He is the Holy One, our Heavenly Father, the very essence of Goodness and Love.
Talarico, by contrast, treats Him like a punchline. His crude jokes and casual blasphemies reveal that he does not revere God — he mocks Him.
That alone disqualifies him from any claim to Christian leadership or ministry.
