Left’s Tearjerker Tactics Clash with Latino Reality on Social Media

AP Photo/Eugene Garcia, File

The Left has refined several tactics since the Obama era to sway public opinion, often portraying conservatives as callous villains who harm vulnerable groups, like children or families. This emotional appeal is deployed across issues like healthcare, welfare, and now immigration. I’ve noticed this trend creeping into platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where I typically browse for beauty, lifestyle, and homemaking content. I don’t follow political influencers there, preferring to engage with politics on X, where I’m more active despite having fewer followers on TikTok and Instagram. Over the past two days, I’ve seen non-political influencers subtly weave political messaging into their posts, a shift from their usual apolitical content.

Some activists demand that Latino influencers uniformly oppose immigration enforcement, implying that supporting border security betrays their heritage. As a Florida resident with many Latino friends, I hear a different perspective. Many fled their home countries to escape crime and instability—issues they feel worsened in the U.S. under the Biden administration’s policies. They don’t support unchecked immigration; they want safety and order. They’re also frustrated by line-jumpers, having waited years and spent thousands to immigrate legally.

Latinos are part of the reason Trump won. They want a safe border just like other Americans.

The 'ripping families apart' narrative oversimplifies a complex issue. The U.S. doesn’t force parents to leave their children behind—that’s a personal choice. Parents detained at immigration appointments aren’t simply 'doing the right thing.' Many have overstayed visas for years, ignoring deportation orders. The media distorts this reality, much like it misrepresented Joe Biden’s fitness for office over the past four years, misleading the public.

It’s a bad look when individuals demanding to stay in the U.S. for safety and opportunity are seen burning the American flag in the streets. Why should Americans welcome those who openly reject the nation’s values? Europe’s experience over the past fifty years—embracing unchecked immigration without assimilation—has led to significant challenges, serving as a cautionary tale.

Americans are a kind and loving people. By and large, Americans support legal immigration. There is no need to buy the emotional exploitation of the Left.
