Mayor Rahm Emanuel, under fire since last year when reporters caught his police-driven SUV running red lights, is still running red lights and putting the good people of Chicago in danger:

New video secured by CWB shows the mayor’s police-driven SUV blatantly running red lights at two busy intersections last month—even going so far as to drive the wrong way into oncoming Cicero Avenue traffic.
When we reported on a rash of mayoral red light violations last winter, Emanuel blamed the second vehicle of his two-car motorcade: “When there is a tail car…there are some instances where they need to get through the light, because they can’t get separated from first car, that may be what it is.
But in both of these newly-secured videos, there is no tail car. There only one car—and the violations are among the most flagrant we’ve seen.

Last year, the mayor ordered his drivers to slow down and “obey the law. Period”:

Emanuel stayed on message when told the black SUV and tail car that whisk him across the city have $400 in unpaid parking tickets that make the vehicles eligible for the wheel-locking Denver boot.
“You have exactly what I said. They’ll look into it and make sure, if there’s a security situation. But, if there isn’t, they have to deal with that, slow down. Nobody’s above the law. Obey the law. Period. Full stop.”
Hmmm. Where have we heard the definitive “period” before? Oh yeah — it was from Rahm’s former boss, President Obama:
If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.
Because lying to voters is “the Chicago way.”
