Here we go again. . .
The “Lambda” COVID-19 variant, first observed in Peru, is trending this morning:
Lambda variant of Covid 19 is said to have the highest mortality rate and this variant has so far been found in 30 countries.

And there’s a fear that it’s resistant to vaccines:

A new study shows, however, that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines work just fine against it:

And it shows that antibody treatments are successful, too:
Preprint, but: "The results suggest that vaccines in current use will remain protective against the lambda variant and that monoclonal antibody therapy will remain effective." https://t.co/NMm2mFYlh3

The alarmists aren’t sure just how alarmed they should be yet over it:
Watching—new #LambdaVariant now found in 30 countries including 🇬🇧. “The Lambda originated from Peru, with the highest mortality rate in the world.” Some scientists are worried lambda may be “more infectious than Delta variant”. Still watching. #COVID19https://t.co/RBPaft4QW9

And:
3) Delta is still a bigger thread than Lambda. A grenade in hand with the pin pulled (Delta) is more dangerous than an unknown possible-grenade-looking variant in the sky (Lambda). See thread 🧵 https://t.co/umPNIF60BC

Of course, Delta is not leading to increased deaths hospitalizations, so maybe — just maybe — the alarmists can take a chill-pill on Lambda? Please?
The data suggest that countries with high vaccination rates are unlikely to see major surges in hospitalization rates from the Delta variant and breakthrough infections that occur in people who are fully vaccinated, tend to cause mild or no symptoms so #VaccinesWork
