Since we’re told over and over again that straws are finding their way into the oceans and that’s a huge problem, what about all those needles littering San Francisco?
Well, President Trump announced last night that he is going to do something about it, telling reporters on Air Force One that the EPA “is going to be putting out a notice” targeting San Francisco’s trash problems, including used needles:
Pres Trump aboard AF1 enroute DC tells pool his admin will slap SanFrancisco w/notice of environmental viols w/in week over its homeless pollution, needles seeping into Pacific. "They have to clean it up. We can’t have our cities going to hell.” pic.twitter.com/Ab2R7IZ5bI

“They’re in serious violation”:
Trump said tremendous pollution was flowing into the ocean because of waste in storm sewers from Calif. cities, citing specifically used needles, per WH pooler.
“EPA is going to be putting out a notice,” Trump said. “They’re in serious violation.”

And . . . he’s right? Gross:
“in Aug. 2018 alone, [San Francisco] retrieved 164,264 needles through a disposal program & street cleanups. …the amount of feces collected has also swelled… Democratic officials in California [are] in the awkward position of agreeing with Mr. Trump”https://t.co/2ly6o6toNF

OK, answer us this: If the drain system can stop needles from reaching the ocean, why do we need to ban straws?

San Francisco Mayor London Breed called Trump’s remarks “ridiculous,” which means she just hates the environment. Are we doing that right?
