Toledo Police have taken to Twitter in an effort to stop misinformation that’s spreading after an officer shot and killed an allegedly armed 25-year-old on Friday:
Alert: Officer-Involved Shooting in the North End. Scene is safe. No officers injured. Use alternate routes to avoid Lagrange and Hudson. More information to come. #toledopolice pic.twitter.com/2p4G7S9WwV

From the Toledo Blade:
Officers with the special operations unit initiated a stop of a “person of interest” in a robbery when he fled on a bicycle, Toledo Police Department spokesman Lt. Kevan Toney said.
Officers fired at him after he “produced a weapon,” Lieutenant Toney said. Toledo police put a photo of that weapon on their Twitter page Friday night showing a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun.
Rumors quickly spread on Twitter and Facebook that the deceased was an unarmed 16-year-old boy, which isn’t true:

And he’s a 25-year-old, not 16:
Update: Officer-Involved shooting investigation is ongoing & will take time. We will provide updates as we get them. The person shot is 25 years of age, not a juvenile. He did have a firearm. PLEASE, be weary of misinformation. pic.twitter.com/ypZapEQTj5
