We apologize to Twitchy readers for asking a rhetorical question in our headline for this story. No matter what the topic or issue at hand, the answer to the question, 'Is Tim Walz really that dumb?' is always a resounding yes.
In this instance, however, the Minnesota governor really seems to have stepped in it more than usual with an unintentional call for President Trump to invade Canada — or at least violate its national sovereignty and treat it like the US state he has always joked about making it.
Last month, a group of YMCA campers from Minnesota got stranded while in Ontario, Canada. (Pay attention to this detail. It will come up later.) Instead of just MAIDing the young explorers, which is quickly becoming Canada's national pastime, the Royal Canadian Air Force went in and rescued the 11 boys and four guides from a wildfire (that was probably started intentionally, as many Canadian wildfires are).
It was a nice story with a happy ending, but not particularly newsworthy.
Or so we thought.
Fast forward to yesterday, as tariff tensions are mounting between the U.S. and Canada, when Walz decided that he was going to dunk on the Trump administration for not rescuing the campers.
When a group of YMCA campers needed to be rescued during the wildfires on our northern border, it was Canada who immediately helped. Not a word from Trump. https://t.co/zqCIk4tKj4
— Governor Tim Walz (@GovTimWalz) August 24, 2026
Say, remember that detail we noted above about how the campers were stranded in CANADA?
Because Walz sure seems to have forgotten it.
Those campers were literally in Ontario, Tim. Holy s***. lol https://t.co/ZkSvuRY9Wi

What was Trump supposed to do? Send in SEAL Team 6?

Granted, our military is quite good at dangerous missions in foreign countries like Venezuela, but since we don't (yet) have a warrant for Mark Carney's arrest, that might have been a teensy bit of overkill on the President's part.
This is a dumb tweet: the YMCA campers were trapped in Wabakimi Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada - roughly 175 miles north of the Minnesota border - not during wildfires on the Minnesota side. Canada’s military handling the extraction of people on Canadian soil is routine…

When a tweet comes from Walz, the adjective 'dumb' should be taken as a given.
But as the post above concludes, this is what the RCAF does ... in their own country. It wasn't some extravagant gesture of goodwill toward America, and it had nothing to do with the current trade dispute.
Run that by us again.

When campers are in a Canadian park that's ~200 MILES INSIDE CANADA, how are they "on our northern border," you lying sack of hog droppings? pic.twitter.com/FXvt8QrItI
Hey, hey, hey. Let's not go too far here.
There is no reason to insult sacks of hog droppings like that.
They were **IN** Canada.

When you lie about something so easily proven false, you obviously lie quite regularly. It’s a character disorder. pic.twitter.com/wu6hZJnc9m
Come to think of it, if Walz felt so strongly about the United States intervening with a military incursion into Canada, why didn't he lead it?
Why didn't you do it?
— Tired of being politically correct (@USBornNRaised) August 24, 2026
They were in Canada, you effeminate putz.
— Rusty Shackelford (@rshackelford14) August 25, 2026
I mean, I guess Trump could have called on the Minnesota National Guard so you could reprise your role as a deserter. https://t.co/AsHnKjtfQO
OOF!
Tough, but entirely fair. And accurate.
We all remember that Walz indeed abandoned his unit when he found out it was going to be deployed to Iraq.
— The Only James Magelk (@TheMagelk) August 24, 2026
Given his ... ahem ... 'proficiency' with firearms, specifically shotguns, his unit was better off without him.
Canada had to step up because YOU were incompetent, Tim.
— Far Right Latino Appreciator (@isengrimm3) August 24, 2026
Minnesota should rescue Minnesotans but you’re too busy running cover for Somalian fraud rings. https://t.co/RpgnWGnX7u
Walz has been busy doing a LOT of awful things.
Did you say a word when kids were trafficked and found frozen to death at the northern border? Didn’t think so. Sit this one out, retard.

When a Serial Child Rapist Needed a Pardon, it was Tim Walz who immediately helped keeping a Serial Child Rapist on the Streets to Continue to Serial Child Rape… https://t.co/GwYzXLsqUB

Talk about having a bad — or even a 'worst' — day.
Walz was having that, and then some.
When a group of Somali scammers needed to be rescued during the Social Services Scam arrests in our state of Minnesota, it was Tim Walz who immediately helped.
— MassCentralMedia (@MassCentralNew1) August 24, 2026
Not a bit can be blamed on Trump. pic.twitter.com/X6RAXM5mXd
We suppose it's possible that Walz was taught about maps and borders between the U.S. and Canada at a 'Quality Learing Center.'
I can’t believe how Trump hates YMCA campers on your northern border so much. Weird how our neighbors right there might intervene quickly, just like we would do for them, instead of the president personally acting from half a continental way on an issue he wouldn’t even know… https://t.co/VNPKxbAnR0
— Kurt Schlichter (@KurtSchlichter) August 24, 2026
Col. Schlichter concluded his tweet by writing, 'That's a great take,' and we don't think we've ever seen a post dripping with more sarcasm than that.
Oh ffs, go pardon a pedophile or something. https://t.co/7qjePH4JEm

Don't tempt him. He'll do it.
Campers stranded in Canada, 175 miles north of the border.

— Doug Powers (@ThePowersThatBe) August 25, 2026
As many on X pointed out, there's a reason that #TimWalzLies was such a popular and trending hashtag throughout the 2024 campaign.
You should delete your post. How embarrassing. pic.twitter.com/kAs7u2U6we
— Liberal Crisis Hotline 🌴🐊🇺🇸 (@johninpcola) August 24, 2026
Just like the word 'dumb,' the word 'embarrassing' goes hand-in-hand with Walz whenever he speaks.
Or tweets.
So retard if that would have happened in Minnesota would you have expected Canada Mounted Police to rescue them? You can’t be this stupid.
— Ghost of the Banner M (@SteveIam4msu) August 24, 2026
Oh, yes, he can.
He's been showing everyone in America how stupid he can be for the past several years, and it just keeps getting worse.
He's sure not going to start getting any smarter just because the corruption and scandal that have engulfed his state and his administration ended his political career forever.
