The two worst personality traits that can plague any politician are being too rehearsed and being inauthentic.
And somehow, California Governor Gavin Newsom has managed to master both of these undesirable skills.
We don't need to rehash the litany of examples we have written about showing Newsom as a complete phony. He will change his rhetoric more often than a weathervane on top of a Kansas barn changes direction during tornado season. He doesn't change his policies, mind you; those remain hard left. But he will adopt any spoken position that he believes will aid his presidential aspirations. Most recently, he even declared himself to be an 'established insurgent' to appeal to the communists in the DSA faction that is taking over the Democrat Party, even though Newsom's family wealth is exactly what the DSA rails against.
But even as he is throwing his finger in the air every day to see which way the leftist winds are blowing, astonishingly, Newsom is also as rehearsed and robotic as the spouses in the 1975 movie The Stepford Wives.
This morning, one of the best receipt accounts on X, @mazemoore, assembled a collection of one of Newsom's favorite phrases that he has memorized and recited by rote for his entire career. Watch:

Well, we're not psychiatrists, but it doesn't take Sigmund Freud or Carl Jung to recognize that what Newsom is doing here with his rote expression is what those in the head-shrinking business like to call 'classic projection.'
