Every day at Twitchy, we point out how so many elected Democrats are destroying America not only with their awful policies (I'm looking at you, Abigail Spanberger and Virginia Democrats), but also with their dangerous, violent rhetoric.
These prominent figures are always in the public eye, so it is easy to focus on them as the root of all evils that are destroying America. But there is an equal -- if not far worse -- cancer in American government institutions, and it is found in the legion of nameless, faceless bureaucrats who are not even remotely qualified for their jobs.
There are countless examples I could share that illustrate this level of incompetence, but seeing as how Minnesota is currently the focus of so much national attention, the following clip out of the Gopher State says so much about government and how it fails us every day, not by accident, but by design.
Tim Walz’s appointee in charge of the state’s accounting and finances said they do not have tools to hold agencies accountable for fraud - despite it being their job!

“Madam chair, we do not have a tool to hold agencies accountable.”

Kristin Robbins, who shared this clip, is the Chair of the Minnesota House Fraud Prevention Committee (for full disclosure, she is also running for governor). The person she is questioning is Commissioner of Minnesota Management and Budget Erin Campbell. And her answers -- or, more precisely, non-answers -- to some extremely basic questions are bureaucratic incompetence in a nutshell.
Not only does she freely admit that she has created or developed no mechanism to combat fraud, but the rest of her answer is pure gobbledygook. She is clearly unprepared for ANY questioning, stumbles amid long periods of silence, and, in the end, has to phone a friend for help because she is simply incapable of giving anything resembling a satisfactory (or coherent) response.
Then they have no business operating these programs. They have a fiduciary duty to comply with all laws, rules and regulations for compliance and prevention of fraud, waste and abuse! She is NOT doing her job.

It's worse than that. Of course, the rampant fraud that has been exposed in Minnesota makes it clear that Campbell has not been doing her job.
What this exchange exposes is that Campbell does not know how to do her job, even if she wanted to.
She doesn't even know the statute that governs her department, as she has to consult it repeatedly just to recite what it says. And she doesn't understand what it says, even as she is speaking the words.
WOW: A state agency official admits they have no tools to hold fraudsters accountable — despite statutes making them responsible for internal controls.

State official: “The way we do that is by creating a framework so agencies can implement their own internal controls.” pic.twitter.com/ZO968cpsDu
Yes, 'creating frameworks,' and 'providing support.' This is bureaucrat-speak for 'we are doing nothing at all.' Hilariously, Campbell even resorts to saying that she is giving agencies 'tools' (because that is a rehearsed word) after just admitting a few seconds earlier that she does not have the tools to fight fraud.
This comes as no surprise from Campbell, who once said (and I am including the link because it will sound like I'm making it up) that Minnesota was not facing a budget deficit, but a 'structural imbalance.'
In short, she is like a pull-string doll who comes equipped with any number of responsibility-avoiding catchphrases.
And when Robbins ultimately puts her on the spot and asks, 'What do you do when they fail?', Campbell's answer is ... nothing. Just a blank stare.
"Yes it's my job, but no I don't do it because [nonsensical doublespeak]."

In any private enterprise, this would be fines and imprisonment. Since it's government, she will likely get a raise and a promotion. https://t.co/NQVZHVAnPM
In fact, this is almost certainly why Governor Walz appointed her to this position in the first place. To do absolutely nothing.
Govt at its finest!!

Your responsibility.. no yours, ok the statutes aren’t clear… blah.. blah…
Zero responsibility and accountability https://t.co/KOr2NIqz5e pic.twitter.com/onmhXdfb1o
One might even conclude that bureaucracies are intended to obfuscate and avoid responsibility.
This is unreal. These people are so grossly incompetent they not only need to be fired, they should all be charged with willful negligence. Good lord… https://t.co/k4kju1iJEO

And here is the scary part.
There isn't just one Erin Campbell in the Minnesota state government; there are hundreds of her.
And zooming out from what might be the worst state in the union right now, there are thousands of Erin Campbells in every state government, even red states.
And that's not even counting the federal government, where the number probably explodes into the tens or hundreds of thousands within that behemoth alone. In senior positions of leadership, not just staffers.
Bureaucratic incompetence is nothing short of a pandemic in America. A fatal one.
When it comes to pandemics, we may never know whether or not COVID was released intentionally (but it totally was). With this pandemic, though? It is 100 percent intentional. There is no question about it.
Layers upon layers of incompetent bureaucrats like Campbell are put in place because they shield the ones truly responsible -- in this case, Tim Walz -- from ANY accountability. That may be ending soon for Tampon Timmy, but it protected him for years.
But while he and other leaders in Minnesota benefited from the toxic shield Campbell and others like her provided, the bureaucratic pandemic was killing his state and its citizens.
With COVID, liars like Tony Fauci told everyone that staying at home for two weeks and wearing face diapers would 'stop the spread.'
With the bureaucratic pandemic, the only vaccine that will work is massive firings.
Followed by prosecutions.
Because, as dangerous as the violence that Democrats are currently inciting is, bureaucracy is the virus that is truly killing the country.
