Yesterday, Hope Hicks, the White House communications director, announced she’d be resigning in “the coming weeks.” Lauren Duca sounds pretty unforgiving not to mention way over-the-top here:
It is beyond insulting to treat Hope Hicks as a victim, as if being a young woman negates the potential for total agency. She has knowingly held up an authoritarian regime since its origins. She is both super pretty and pretty complicit.

As you might expect, Duca’s tweet got plenty of applause from other anti-Trump Resistance warriors, but two words in there struck some as ridiculous:

Speaking of authoritarian, on which side of the aisle might we find the most people arguing in favor of confiscating guns from law-abiding citizens?
IAuthoritarian? Seriously? Get a grip @laurenduca! Using that word in context of Trump administration betrays severe ignorance of, and disrespect for those who have and continue to suffer under true authoritarian regimes. Words MATTER. Accuracy matters. https://t.co/QxwTu8aVKz

Authoritarian regime? The very fact you can mouth off against Trump on a forum like this pretty much proves that in fact you don't live in an authoritarian regime. Ask the folks in China/North Korea what it's like to try and go public with anti-gov statements

What did he do that was authoritarian?

“Authoritarian,” eh?
