Overnight, shots were fired and explosives detonated near the Dallas Police Department, which was attacked by a man in an armored vehicle. A standoff several miles away ensued.
The suspect planted explosives and shot at police (officers described having “heard fully automatic weapons”). According to Shannon Watts of “Moms Demand Action,” the situation is comparable enough to be used as proof of why open carry in Texas is a bad idea:
