When I first saw this X post, I bookmarked it, thinking it was from some left-wing PAC. It features a nasty-looking Karen pointing her finger at the reader and says, "Your neighbors will know if you don't vote … and they won't be happy." At the bottom, superimposed over the "Paid for by" boilerplate, there's the vaguely threatening message, "Your voting record is public."
I've been to a couple of concerts this month. One was Gorillaz, and I was afraid I might be in for a political speech from leader Damon Albarn. Fortunately, he reined it in and said that while he's not American, what happens here has a big effect on his little island of England, and implored the crowd to be sure to vote in November. I'm happy to assure him that I will indeed be voting on Election Day, and he's not going to like the way I vote.
I had to look up the America PAC to jog my memory that it was Elon Musk's political PAC. I love Musk, but I don't like this approach at all. Like I say, it's vaguely threatening … this nasty Karen is going to look up and see which of her neighbors voted and … what? I'm fortunate that when I moved to the bluest inner-ring suburb of a blue city, I managed to land next door to the only other Republicans in the whole municipality.
Anyway, here's the PSA:
Your neighbors will know if you don't vote... and they won't be happy. Don't wait until the last minute. Make your plan to vote by Nov. 3.

That gets cut off, so here's the whole thing:

I wish Musk would stick to flying cars. He did float the idea of starting a third political party with his America PAC. I wish he weren't spending the money putting out ads like this one.
@america I don't give a fuck what my fat ass neighbor thinks. Shut the fuck up using peer pressure to get people to vote. Maybe if we didn't have retards running we would be more willing to vote

@america My neighbors may know that I don't vote, but do they know how many guns are in my home?

@america On reflection, whomever came up with this clearly lives in an HoA.

@america I don’t appreciate the coercive nature of this ad

@america Is this a threat?

@america I'm actually voting in spite of my neighbors.

@america What kind of slop is this?
— Wolfgang (@WolfgangFidelis) October 19, 2026
@america How will neighbors know?
— Bill Hart (@bhartres) October 19, 2026
@america My neighbors can mind their own fucking business.
— Xabi Alonso Believer 🇺🇦 🇵🇸 (@XabisBurner) October 19, 2026
@america What the hell does this mean? Neighbors spying? What does my voting have any influence over the level of happiness with my neighbors?
— 🇺🇸🇬🇧PatriotBobAllen🇨🇦🇦🇺🇮🇪 (@pckrs1) October 19, 2026
@america This might be the worst ad of all time.

So it's not just me. Vote, because if you don't, your neighbors won't be happy? That's not a good reason to vote. My neighbors, with the exception of the ones directly next door, won't be happy if I do vote. Even if they look up if I voted or not, they won't know for whom I voted.
I don't get this at all.
