Joe Biden Wants It Made Clear That Democrats Fought the Civil War to Preserve Slavery

Presidential candidate Nikki Haley's poll numbers out of New Hampshire must be making the Biden campaign nervous. There was a big fuss after Christmas when Haley was asked about the cause of the Civil War at a campaign event. Haley has been flubbing easy topics for a long time, and she didn't immediately respond, "Slavery." No one wanted to hear any more than that. It reminded me of the "Simpsons" episode where Apu was taking his citizenship test and was asked the same question. After launching into his answer, the questioners said, "Just say slavery."

The whole thing blew up, and the Haley campaign claimed it was a set-up. Recently she was caught playing the embarrassing "I have black friends" card. And for at least the second time now, whoever runs President Biden's X account for him decided to rub it in.

Let me be clear for those who don't seem to know: Slavery was the cause of the Civil War.

"Let me be clear" is one of Biden's tells, like "No joke."

Biden is a racist. It's amazing the things that have come out of his mouth that he's gotten away with. He panders to blacks while claiming if you don't vote for him, "you ain't black." He told a black audience that Mitt Romney was going to put them "back in chains" if elected. This is the guy who got knifed in the back by his own vice president during the debates for palling around with segregationists. She's obviously forgiven him.

But there's more to the story than Biden's tweet conveys, and it's inconvenient to Biden's party.

Then why did Lincoln declare, over a year into it, that his goal was "not either to save or to destroy slavery," and that if he could "save the Union without freeing any slave," or by "freeing some and leaving others alone" he would do it?

Biden just told a black church this week that he "started a civil rights movement!" That's back when he was attending a black church as a youngster.
