Remember earlier this week, when an ambulance pulling up to the White House had a bunch of people on social media expressing their death wishes for President Trump? That was fun.
There were plenty of distinguished speakers at Sen. John McCain’s funeral service in Washington Saturday, with each speaker, such as Henry Kissinger, generally trending on Twitter.
Henry Kissinger: "Our country has had the good fortune that, at times of national trial, a few great personalities have emerged to remind us of our essential unity and inspire us to fulfill our sustaining values.

Here’s some food for thought:
Henry Kissinger, Al Gore, Barack Obama: That makes at least three Nobel Peace Prize winners sitting in the first four pews at @SenJohnMcCain memorial.

Kissinger’s name appearing among the trending topics got HuffPost’s Ashley Feinberg — the writer who brokered the sale of Deadspin to Sen. Ted Cruz — a little excited, shall we say.

Wow.
Got my hopes up you'd show what kind of person you are. Mine came true. https://t.co/XtZsia8J6u

Not a lot of journalists are fans, it seems. Representing The Daily Beast …
Kissinger wrecked the 1968 peace talks so that he could help candidate Nixon win the WH for his first term. Most of the years of McCain’s imprisonment and torture occurred after Kissinger, one of the worst people who’s ever lived, carried out that grotesque act to extend the war https://t.co/J15icso6NJ

Trump, who was essentially banned from speaking at or attending the funeral, has yet to do anything that disgusting to John McCain. Or anyone, come to think of it.

Mediaite …

Capital & Main …
I wonder: When Henry Kissinger ultimately passes away, will it still be too soon to criticize him or honestly review his record?
— David Sirota (@davidsirota) September 1, 2018
We live in a media culture that basically says that even if Henry Kissinger, George W. Bush & Dick Cheney show up to a nationally televised political event, it is uncouth to even gently mention the wars they initiated & the thousands of deaths their decisions are responsible for.
— David Sirota (@davidsirota) September 1, 2018
Salon …
Cannot believe we live in a country where Henry Kissinger can go outside.

You’ve got to give Barack Obama credit: drone strikes were an excellent PR decision.
If you're lovingly eulogized by Henry Kissinger, George W. Bush and Joe Lieberman, there's no way you didn't hurt a lot of people while you were alive.
— Nima Shirazi (@WideAsleepNima) September 1, 2018
It wouldn’t be a bad idea to preplan like McCain and make sure whoever officiates at your funeral puts your most despised political figures on blast.
A palate cleanser from the folks at Code Pink:
When peace activists protested war criminal Henry Kissinger in the Senate in 2015, John McCain called their demonstration "despicable" and shouted at them, "Get out of here, you low life scum!"https://t.co/HIqGGZuDbs pic.twitter.com/C427RY7sGJ
