Poll: Democrats hold a more favorable view of socialism than capitalism

As Twitchy reported earlier Thursday, “Queer Eye” star Jonathan Van Ness got an earful from his fellow liberals when he suggested that the Democrats really need to come up with some center-left candidates who can perhaps score votes from both Democrats and centrist Republicans.

This seems to be a pattern, too. Progressives believe all the things they are fighting for are moral absolutes — the right to health care, the right to affordable housing, the right to affordable college, debt forgiveness, open borders — and if anything, the party needs to lurch even further left for that blue wave to happen.

It might not be a bad strategy. (Actually, it is a bad strategy, but don’t tell the Democrats we said that.) According to the results of a Gallup poll released this week, Democrats have a more favorable view of socialism than of capitalism right now.

William Cummings reports for USA Today:

Capitalism, Democrats just aren’t that into you.

According to a Gallup poll published Monday, a majority of Democrats no longer hold a positive view of capitalism, while nearly 60 percent of them feel good about socialism. More than 70 percent of Republicans, on the other hand, see capitalism positively, while only 16 percent of them have a positive view of socialism.

The positive view of socialism among Democrats, and those who lean Democrat, actually dropped a point from 58 percent in 2016. But in those same two years, positive feelings about capitalism plummetted from 56 to 47 percent.

Wow, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s train-wreck interviews must really speak to Democrats in ways we don’t understand.

Hey, DNC Chair Tom Perez even called Ocasio-Cortez “the future of our party!” Believe him.
