Lena Dunham warns North Carolina voters to remain cautious around the dying beast of white patriarchy

It wasn’t difficult finding plenty of photos of Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus knocking on dormitory doors to get out the youth vote for Hillary Clinton, but Lena Dunham’s weekend tour of North Carolina on behalf of the Democrat nominee seems to have been a little more of an intimate affair.

At least ABC News gave Dunham’s last-minute campaign push some exposure, or at least it tried. Maybe someone thought better of using this particular photo to show Dunham courting “young voters” and decided to delete the tweet. Or maybe those really are millennials who’ve taken the last eight years just as hard as everyone else.

Maybe those were campaign volunteers in need of a pep talk.

It must have been difficult to traverse the mobs of adoring fans as she campaigned in North Carolina, but Dunham found a way.

Dunham did find some of those young people who have managed to evade Hillary’s reach during a visit to Duke. Dunham tweeted that she was “so freakin’ excited to be in North Carolina,” and it showed.

ABC News noted that Dunham did address Clinton’s email scandal, acknowledging that “Hillary supporters don’t want to talk about it anymore.” Instead, she addressed more pragmatic concerns, such as the unpredictable behavior of white patriarchy as it dies slowly and painfully.

“White patriarchy is like a beast in a movie that’s been stabbed and is just dying so slow and screaming as it goes down and I just am afraid of what that’s going to look like,” she said.
