Sen. Cory Booker stands by embattled Sen. Bob Menendez, is the 'Laverne to his Shirley'

New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez held a press conference today at which he argued for the extension of the Hudson-Bergen light rail line to Englewood. Not surprisingly, the few reporters who covered the event were more concerned with the status of the corruption charges filed against the senator.

Menendez, just as patient as he was during last week’s hot mess of an impromptu press conference, scolded a reporter who brought up the charges, according to NJ.com:

“Did you get any subpoenas? Did you?” Menendez said to a reporter who asked if he received any subpoenas or target letters from federal authorities. “Neither have I.”

On hand for the press conference was Sen. Cory Booker, who was firm in his allegiance to Menendez. Reports NJ.com: “I am the Robin to his Batman. The Starsky to his Hutch. On bad days, the Laverne to his Shirley,” Booker said.
