We’re vaccinating 6-month-olds now, but back when the FDA approved vaccines for 12- to 18-year-olds, there was a bit of a controversy when one municipality started targeting kids directly with its advertising. The COVID vaccine would prevent kids from contracting the virus, so who wouldn’t want their kid itching to get it?
California State Sen. Scott Wiener had introduced a bill that would allow teens to get vaccinated without their parent’s consent, but months of harassment and death threats from anti-vaxxers took their toll, and he’s pulled the bill.
BREAKING: @Scott_Wiener pulls bill to let teens get vaccinated without parental consent.
“Months of harassment and misinformation — including death threats against me and teen advocates — by a small but highly vocal and organized minority of anti-vaxxers have taken their toll”

If you can't stand up to a "small but highly vocal… minority" maybe you're not cut out for public office. And, yes, Scott's continued obsession with other people's kids is … strange. https://t.co/YprnvKbqVO

Yeah, this is the same Scott Wiener who wanted to lower the penalty for adults who have sex with same-sex minors and let a judge decide if the adult should be labeled a sex offender. Wiener thought the law was too harsh for the LGBTQ community where this was common.
In other words it wasn't going to pass so he's playing the victim card.

Poor Scottie, maybe he can find comfort in the arms of a "willing child."

I thought this was about “public health” not his feels 🙄

This is as close to "I was wrong and I intend to correct it" as you'll get from a politician or most anyone these days. He needs that little hit of victimhood to get some back pats, but he knows.

Has this guy ever proposed anything not wretched?
— Matthew Resko (@mattresko) August 31, 2022
Not so small of a group or he wouldn’t have cared so much.
— Texas our Texas (@Julzmomof2) August 31, 2022
Harassment? Sure, ok. Wonder if he’s blaming the same people who got called domestic terrorists at school board meetings…aka parents who care about the decisions that get made for their kids.

That dude is the groomiest of groomers. Absolute creep. Same guy that went on a rampage to make intentionally infecting people with HIV legal. Scum of the earth.
— John (@JohnnyENVE) August 31, 2022
True.
The biggest degenerate state senator in the country doesn’t get to try to pass a bill that usurps parental rights and then clutch his pearls like he’s the victim. It doesn’t work like that.

They throw around “antivaxxer” and “misinformation” around so much, that they don’t mean anything anymore. Certainly not the flex they think it is.
— Annie Day-now 😊 (@anniewe3) August 31, 2022
Gosh don’t you hate it when the people you were elected to serve get in the way of your own personal agenda?
— Current Slacktivist Slogan Goes Here (@LAgator77) August 31, 2022
This guy really likes to act as a wedge between parents and their kids … what do you call a person who does that?
