Don't Back a Florida Man (or Woman) Into a Corner—And Don't Commit Crime Here

It's fun to laugh about the 'Florida Man' meme. Heck, I'm a fifth generation native Floridian with a Mom who is a 'Conch' (meaning she was born in Key West), and I have plenty of crazy men in my bloodline. They wouldn't commit crimes willy nilly, but don't back them into a corner is all I'm saying. The women either.

I laughed at this meme because it's so true. Here's the truth behind the 'Florida Man' meme ... it only became a thing because Florida has such an open system and almost all information is publicly available really quickly. This gives journalists easy access to crimes happening in Florida and all the gritty details. These same crimes happen elsewhere, but those states hide the facts and Florida doesn't.

Here's the thing ... the 'Florida Man' meme is a misnomer. Florida is actually a really safe place to live. Why? Law enforcement will arrest criminals and the prosecutors will put them on trial.

Also, if Prosecutors don't go hard enough at criminals, Governor DeSantis has no problem removing them.

Literally, do the job Floridians elected you to do.

Judges, too. Either do your job in Florida or Ron DeSantis will make sure you no longer have that job.

It's necessary so citizens know who is doing their job and who is soft on crime.

Florida isn't letting people out for good behavior and overcrowded prisons. This is not the state to commit crime.

Oh, also don't try to rob a store. The owner likely has a gun and if they don't, someone else in the story probably does. An armed populace keeps everyone polite.

Hey, Florida is still in the South. We don't hide our crazy. We put it on the front door and have a glass of sweet tea.
