A lot of people have been referring to the anonymous author of that New York Times op-ed, “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration,” as a coward. Take, for example, The Los Angeles Times:
No, anonymous Trump official, you're not "part of the resistance." You're a coward https://t.co/0Wila1M6By (via @latimesopinion) pic.twitter.com/qRj3nqA5U2
— Los Angeles Times (@latimes) September 5, 2018
But perhaps the most scathing use of the word came from The Intercept’s Glenn Greenwald — certainly no conservative, but a believer in the system.
Many of the complaints from the NYT's anonymous WH coward – not all, but many – are ideological: that Trump deviates from GOP orthodoxy, an ideology he didn't campaign on & that voters didn't ratify. Trump may be a threat but so is this covert coup to impose these policies. pic.twitter.com/4Qf54JJHN9

The irony in the op-ed from the NYT's anonymous WH coward is glaring and massive: s/he accuses Trump of being "anti-democratic" while boasting of membership in an unelected cabal that covertly imposes their own ideology with zero democratic accountability, mandate or transparency
— Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) September 5, 2018
Well stated.

Excellent written opinion and agree 110%

Amen brother! You get it! Even as a liberal you get it! Gotta love your honesty.
— punisher (@punishe24063787) September 5, 2018
Savage, yet true, take. I have no clue how you are a liberal still
— Charles (@tal0781) September 5, 2018
Yes. I get that the the situation is messy, but it seems fundamentally anti-democratic to attempt to “frustrate from within” without any scrutiny or accountability.
— Daniel Harvey (@Daniel__Harvey) September 5, 2018
…which means Trump is right. The Deep State has indeed taken over. Some democracy.
— anandnaidoo (@anandnaidoo) September 6, 2018
Meanwhile, the Mainstream Media tries to downplay the existence of the so-called "Deep State" while we see evidence of their existence on a near daily basis. Please, tell us more about the man behind the curtain who doesn't exist, NYT. ?
— Syntax Error ??❤️?? (@SyntaxError1871) September 5, 2018
He calls it "steady state" instead of #deepstate. It's like antifa saying they're anti facist or North Korea calling itself "democratic".
— Tom (@review_tom) September 6, 2018
This person called John McCain their lodestar, which means guiding or northern star. ? ? I'm no Trump fan, but I also don't feel good about unelected McCain fanboys seeing themselves as the answer to this country's problems.

The @nytimes is a joke. No one voted for these "adults" and their NEOCON agenda. They are not safeguarding American they are using Trump for cover to pass their draconian agenda.
— Kat (@kitkat9301) September 5, 2018
Here, here! Well said sir! I disagreed with much of President Obama’s agenda but I have faith in our system. If he went too far off base, the next election would swing the pendulum. We had an election. It wasn’t tossed by Russia. We have another in two years.

"anonymous WH source" translates to "Opinion piece we try to make seem legit"
