Louisiana is turning blue again as State Rep. John Bel Edwards easily defeated Sen. David Vitter in the race for governor. It may have been an upset, but it wasn’t much of a surprise to those Republicans who saw Vitter as a weak and vulnerable candidate.

@alanblinder How is this in any way a surprise or an upset?

@maggieNYT the Hookers for Vitter turnout was unexpectedly low.

I like Vitter. He votes right on everything on leads on lots of issues I care about. Much more important than that he used to go to hookers.

Big win for Dems in #LAgov yes, but this definitely doesn't solve their problems in the South. Vitter was only R who prob would have lost

Tonight is a clear sign that Democrats can still win anywhere, as long as the Republican candidate is a whoremonger.

@kerpen and if the Democrat is married to a whoremonger? #OhHillNo #ClintonFatigue pic.twitter.com/AIEm88WbVW

Congrats to the GOP Vitter-haters who went nuclear and handed the state to the unions and trial lawyers. Brilliant move.

@kerpen Of course that tool Dardenne endorsed the Democrat.
