Several years ago, in an effort to cheer me up after a particularly rough year, friends came from out-of-town to visit me. We had a blast, and one of the things we enjoyed was watching 'Tiger King' together. All of my friends had already seen it, so their entertainment was watching me watching it for the first time.
And in that documentary, just when you thought things couldn't get any worse, they did, and I was basically agape the entire time we watched it.
I feel the same way about the ongoing LA wildfires: just when I think the story can't get any worse, it does. Earlier, I told you how firefighters are using handbags (some say cloth water buckets) to put out the flames. Thousands of homes and businesses are burned to nothing, about 100,000 people have been ordered to evacuate, and at least five are dead.
Gavin Newsom gave an interview to CNN and played the victim card. He's not, and yesterday I argued this should end his political career.
And in the name of DEI and gender inclusivity, I also say this disaster should end the political career of LA Mayor Karen Bass.

But Democrats always seem to fail upwards. Kamala Harris, despite lackluster and scandal-ridden performances as San Francisco DA and California's AG (not to mention a spectacularly failed attempt at the White House in 2020), became Joe Biden's VP and the Democratic Party nominee in 2024.
Things could have been very different, however. Recall that Joe Biden also had Karen Bass on his short list for VP:
Reminder that Karen Bass was vetted and on Biden's shortlist for VP.

Seriously.
SERIOUSLY?!
The woman who flew to Ghana -- knowing full well the fire threat facing her city -- was almost a heartbeat away from the Presidency. She was almost, presumably, the Democratic Party nominee.
Karen Bass oversaw a very recent $18 million LAFD budget cut, and she wanted to cut $23 millon. She did so to prioritize homelessness.
Well, well done, Karen. Your budget cuts made a lot of Los Angeles citizens homeless. Mission accomplished.
When she did return to America, she refused to answer questions about her absence and mismanagement.
Normally, as I am not a Democrat, I wouldn't care who they do and don't put in positions of power. But Gavin Newsom is clearly one of the leading candidates for 2028 (and might have been the candidate in 2024 if the Democrats held an actual primary after ousting Joe Biden). And Karen Bass was almost Joe Biden's VP.
The Left's penchant for failing upwards some of the most incompetent, negligent, and unfit candidates is a problem. A problem that has turned LA into Mordor.
We cannot let them do the same to the entire country.
