During a concert performance this past February, country music star Josh Turner told the audience that he had a special feature act that would come towards the end of the set.
His 98-year-old grandmother-in-law, Lois Cunningham, had always dreamed of performing on the Grand Ole Opry stage. And since Josh was performing there, he seized the chance to make her dream come true.
“She’s gonna play when she’s ready.”
The audience wasn’t expecting what happened next:
Cunningham delivered an awe-inspiring rendition of “How Great Thou Art”, a classic frequently played in churches across the country. When she finished, the audience erupted with a standing ovation.
What a beautiful way for a country singer to pay tribute to his grandmother-in-law and a prime example of good that still exists in the world.
