Shutdown Theater be damned:

The man has been identified as Chris Cox of South Carolina:

From CBS:

Cox, who resides in South Carolina, says he isn’t motivated by political reasons but feels obligated to help as veterans prepare to descend on the nation’s capital for this weekend’s Million Vet March.

Regardless of how many former service members actually attend the rally, Cox says making them presentable is just the right thing to do.

“These are our memorials. Do they think that we’re just going to let them go to hell? No,” Cox exclusively told All-News 99.1 reporter John Domen. “If they shut down our memorials, we’re still going to take the trash out, we’re going to clean the windows, we’re going to cut the grass, we’re going to pull the weeds, we’re going to do the tree work.”

Carrying the state flag of South Carolina.

    • bungopony

Then, obviously,he’s a damn inbred redneck.Or the coolest guy in America!

      • southernlights

I’ll go for the coolest guy in America!

      • StotheOB

You know what’s hysterical about that…

“Redneck” used to reference the red-bandanna wearing union workers, who wore said red-bandanna to show they were on strike.

Any time I see a union worker complaining about “rednecks”, it always give me a chuckle

Also, if ya wanna have fun, go to liberal sites and when you see someone use the term with stupid or whatever, say “I know I think they are destoying the Country, but what do you have against unions to call them “stupid” as you did?”

    • StotheOB

You know, that could be a Tea Party reference then.

The SC flag dates back to the Liberty crescent moon flag, one of the first revolution flags, if I recall correctly.

The Palmetto tree in the middle was added a short time after, with it being a reference to the trees which helped keep a SC island base safe from Britains cannon bombardment.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this man considers himself a Tea Partier

…update, to member “history” who has a reply to this post waiting for mods to okay it…
Thank you! William Moultrie… Couldn’t remember his name when typing that earlier (with “Moultrie” being the name that SC Revolutionary War flag goes by)

      • history

  • RblDiver

CLEARLY he should be arrested for creating a health hazard for people with grass allergies, or something.
(In other news, big props to citizens taking the initiative!)

    • tjp77

Does anyone know if that lawn mower has been EPA approved for use on public land? Just think of the carbon footprint!

      • StotheOB

Its huge. In fact, liberals bitch about them in Cali (the place they are used most in the US) – but they don’t want their lawn unmowed

    • conservativechick

UPDATE: He got kicked off the law, told to pack up his stuff, made to roll up the flag and put it away. Don’t want to upset the gov’t Union workers by letting them now volunteers would and could it better!

  • Mark1971

What kind of flag is that? Can’t tell what it is.

    • Bananas

      South Carolina

    • Netmilsmom

      South Carolina state flag.

  • no_more_deceit

    You didn’t grow that!

    • al hunt

      arrggghhhh…beat to it!

      • no_more_deceit

They could always get the Democrat sheeple in Congress to all that grass and let them earn their checks for once, they could all eat it.

        • David

I think they should send Barbara Mikulski out there to graze . . .

          • TocksNedlog

Nooooooo!!!!!!! Think of what all of that resulting methane will do to the ozone layer!!!

        • Z_He_Lives

The morons would probably try to smoke it!

    • TocksNedlog

      You didn’t mow that!

  • crashentu

Inspiration comes in moments like this. Unheralded, dignified. I wonder if he’s considered public office.

    • bungopony

      “Dignified”.Why would he,then?

  • ObamaFail

That guy is showing respect for a President the people will remember fondly. Lincoln was one of the greats. Obama will always be America’s punchline. The shining example of when libs vote based on skin color rather than qualifications.

    • katy the mean old lady

And with a South Carolina flag.

      • ClarkFL

He’s ten times the man Lindsey Graham ever will be too.

    • Danny R. Dotter

Lincoln = Racist, Murderer, & Tyrant

      • Darticus

Temporary tyrant to preserve the Union. After the war he rescinded his powers. Succeeding in preserving the Union through unilateral power, coupled with restoring habeas corpus, etc, makes him a great president. Racist? Murderer? Not sure where you’re getting those ones…

  • sigh

    Government fears men like this.

    • Cleatus Van Damne ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Motivated patriots represent everything that is right about America that the left thinks is wrong about America.
That is why the cowards disrespect our veterans.

  • ObamaFail

Too bad we still didn’t have “Honest Abe.” He’s a lot better than “Backbiting Barack.”

  • Big_Foot

    Old: Tea Party
    New: Lawn Mower Party

    • WisconsinPatriot

      Sign me up!

    • Netmilsmom

There are actually a bunch of guys with riding mowers doing this in Detroit too.

  • Mandy in SC

Kudos to this guy! Proof that we do what needs doing without the government mandating it.

Also, if you listen really carefully, somewhere you can hear a union president’s head exploding.

  • Brandon Goeringer

    Proud of my S.C. Brother!

  • Lord Foggybottom

The gallows is being erected as we speak.

      • Republicanvet

Gallows shmallows. That heinous criminal should get 30 days in the electric chair!!

        • Ruth

Or listening to Obama & Pelosi speeches. Is that cruel and unusual punishment?

          • Republicanvet

I would opt for the chair.

          • Ruth

Yes, that would not hurt nearly as much.

          • David

            What are you? A sadist?

    • Republicanvet

    • TocksNedlog

As opposed to Obama’s grass (choom) politics.

  • JamesJinSC

    Love The SOUTH CAROLINA Flag!

  • Shepherd Lover

Imagine what this country would look like, if concerned, caring citizens VOLUNTARILY took over and did the work of union labor/bureaucrats, simply out of love of their towns, cities, states, and country. We don’t need the overpriced, under-worked hordes constantly whining about their jobs and milking the taxpayers dry… We can do this ourselves, as this one man is proving. If every able-bodied citizen chipped in just a little bit of their time every now and then, it can and would be done, without the exorbitant wages, stratospheric pension and healthcare costs, and the insufferable labor union goons getting in our faces telling us it’s THEIR job(s), so PAY UP. Screw ’em!!

    • bungopony

You do that, you’d better not do it alone! They won’t let it happen again.

    • TexasMom2012

I would like to see the states take back their land. The federal government should not own any part of Texas. We fought for and won our own independence.

  • WisconsinPatriot

As a man who makes his living mowing lawns……I love this guy!
My dearest federal government, it is with great sadness that I state the obvious. You are fired. You are SO fired, that I want the last 6 months worth of funding returned IMMEDIATELY! Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. GET OUT! GET OUT! GET OUT!!!!!!!!!

  • Republicanvet

I give him about 5 rounds before he’s tackled, maced, tazered and shackled.

Where would we be in this country if civilians like him stepped up and took away work from professional, government union wage scale lawnmowermen?

  • ClarkFL

Can my tax dollars go to him, someone that is actually doing something worthwhile in DC? I’d rather not fund Barry’s 147th golf outing, TYVM.

  • Right Wired ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

What a moron. What if he gets lost on that lawn? Who will come rescue him? What if he’s attacked by wildlife? What if he slips and gets a grass stain?

  • Stephanie Warren

    Good for him!

  • aPLWBinAK

Obviously he’s one of them there racists we keep hearing the regime whining about….

  • carol

    Love the American Patriot Spirit.

  • peter sanger

the unions won’t be happy–don’t tread on them

  • forgetyoutooo

According to a reporter with the Weekly Standard, Park Police watched the man begin to pack it in, roll up his SC flag and put it in a tube and call it a day BEFORE three cruisers arrived and told the man to leave and he complied. This man is a true American.

    • drw

That’s good news, it looks like the park police are starting to get the picture. If they actually waited for him to finish before “doing their job” then maybe they aren’t the mindless automatons some are claiming.

  • aFan
  • cmerlo1

I consider that a true act of patriotism. I home somebody bought that guy a beer (or many beers).

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

  • Morneau_for_4

But….but….we were told that without government, nothing would get done!

  • Turd Burglestein

“IN YOUR FACE!”-Man mowing America’s lawn

  • Beth Larsen

The longer the government stays shut, the more people will realize it can be done without them. Thank you fellow patriots!

Every act of defiance makes me feel more and more confident that Obama will not win. I actually feel a bit embarrassed that I ever thought he might. This is the freaking United States of America, and he is way too much of a moron to have a fighting chance.

Apathy can only take so much. Breaking point is just around the corner!!

    • pajamakat

I think (hoping) that even the LoVos are waking up.

  • Renny

“Sir! You are not recreating”. I guess it’s okay then.

Where are the twenty police cars and 50 NPS and DCMP to arrest him for trespassing and working without providing all the proper forms?

Not only do I applaud him, If he needs Bail money, I will help. I am Heading to DC on Sat for the Vet March on Sun. Come arrest me Please. Please please. When they do I will own them and their jobs.

  • me

Stompy Foot will probably have this patriot arrested for possessing ‘grass’.

  • John M Sasser

    a real Civil Servant!

  • SpaceRacer423

hmm, so “Government Shutdown” means government employees stay home and will collect a check for doing little to nothing while honest hardworking Americans are forced to pick up the slack………
…….has the government been “shut down” my entire life?

  • Oxbow

for some reason CBS is calling him a one man “militia” you know, because a guy cutting grass conjures up images of soldiers and war and whatnot

  • GingerSnap

Twitchy, please find out this guys name so we can write it on the ballot in 2016!

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

      His name is Chris Cox, and he’s from South Carolina. See above… Jawamax 8<{D}

  • Scott Carter

Must be one of those “bitter clingers” types who Janet Incompetano described as a threat to the United States!! Probably a racist patriot type who hates welfare, food skramps, EBT and entitlement programs. Shame on him for displaying the true spirit of American independence!!

  • Bryan

A great example of servant leadership. Definitely a teachable moment for those in power.

  • rm1evo

Blessings upon you, Mr. Cox! That gives me an Idea:A “MILLION RIDING MOWER MARCH!” Cruising through the streets of Downtown D.C., Past the Mall and Congress to the White-er, Spite House, Where we refill our tanks and drive the roads around the S.H. a few times! #DRIVEKINGFINKOBAMACRAZY! These monuments and National Parks belong to We The People. If We The People take care of them, who needs the NPS Gestapo? The parks and monuments would stay open and We The People would save millions of our taxpayer dollars.

    • Sharkteeth

Daily Mail story said he was asked to leave by a Robocop looking guy. Maybe this one.

  • Julian Chan

This might be a stretch, but I am starting to wonder if this government shutdown is really furthering the proof that the “free market” works better without government intervention. It seems if left to the “people”, the right thing gets done. Despite the government…..It seems the country can get by just fine, if not better with less intervention…….Not as eloquent as I would like to put it, but I hope the idea comes across….

  • MaMa1

“Lawn Mower Guy for Congress!” Why not president? He’s already done more work in one day than Obama ever will!
