She may not be cut out for a U.S. Senate career, but as a muse for poets seeking to stretch their snark muscles? She’s perfect.

This afternoon, Judd asked tweeters to haiku her — and haiku her, they did:

We love art. Don’t you?

  • Pulchritudinous

Actually, Judd was recently cast in the upcoming movie “Divergent” so she’s not necessarily “out of work.”

    • KansasGirl

She may not be out of work, but she’s definitely “out of her mind”.
I do want to give a shout out to Sean Agnew though, he’s hilarious.

    • Paula Noakes

Which sucks, actually. Love the books, but seeing A**ley in the movie might be more than I can stomach.

      • Shelby is a Patriot

Didn’t like the second book as much as the first one. The idea of a movie…Eh, I don’t know, especially with her in it.

    • Paula Noakes

  • Saint_Zero

Man, if I’d paid attention in English…

    • Garth Haycock

      Man, if I’d paid at-
      tention in English classes
      I could insult her.

    • GaryTheBrave

      Haiku is Japanese.

      • trixiewoobeans

I think she’s “turning Japanese” (wink wink, nudge, nudge).

        • blockthiscnn

Say no more, say no more.

        • blockthiscnn

Say no more, say no more.

      • Jarek Draven

Oh, BURN! (Except for the part where schools here rarely to never have “Japanese Class” and “English Class” is where haiku is typically taught.) But totally– Haiku is japanese! Thanks for the lesson!

        • GaryTheBrave

I was exposed to Haiku in Geography while we were studying Japan. Yeah, my teacher liked to include the local social customs while talking about mountains and rivers.

  • CryingGlitterEagle

She’s one of the leads in an upcoming film based on a wildly popular series of books. That’s hardly out of work. The Patron Saint of Perpetual Outrage strikes again!

    • grais

@hale_razor is The Patron Saint of Perpetual Outrage?

      I did not know that.

      • 1SkepticalChick

        No, but Ashley Judd is.

    • robcrawford2

A “wildly popular series of books” no one’s ever heard of.

      • grais

but…but…it’s an exploration of adolescent anxiety.
        zzzzzzzzzzzzz

      • Paula Noakes

Actually if you’ve got a teenager or if you are into young adult fiction, you’ll have heard of them. They’re all over the bookshelves and pretty impossible to miss. I’ve read the two that are out (Divergent and Insurgent), and they’re very good. Dystopian future … good stuff!

Let’s make a proper haiku out of it, you were so close:

        Another county
        Heard from. Such jealousy of
        Mrs Malkin stinks.

        • CatHerder

I suck at haiku. Better with limericks.

There once was a woman named Ashley
Who was prone to speak a bit rashly
          A middle-aged flake
          Saw all things as rape
And her ‘feminist’ views were just ghastly

          • nc

Hmm, do I up arrow or down arrow this?

Edit: Comment was made before actual limerick was posted. So now I can answer my question: Up arrow!

    • Jack Deth

This “wildly popular series of books”?

One that’s trying to latch onto the “Tween” market of ‘Twilight’ and ‘The Hunger Games’?

      ‘Divergent’

      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1840309/combined

Where Ms. Judd is slated as the eleventh cast member out of 17?

Looks and sounds more lite the Nitwit Niece of New Wave Nonsense to me.

      • Pulchritudinous

*Has actually read the Divergent books*
The character she plays (Tris’ mother) is actually *really* important later on in the story. The fact that she’s put near the bottom of the list is because of the fact that she was casted as the character later on than the rest.

    • TheOriginalDonald

GinaLou is mad/The Patron Saint Of Outrage/Perpetually Right

    • Garth Haycock

In other words, she’s making another lousy movie that only idiots will see.

    • Noah

No, I think the Patron Saint of Perpetual Outrage is still Mrs. Judd. When you compare any teeny tiny inconvenience or first-world problem to the horrible act of rape, you deserve all the mockery we can muster.

      • trixiewoobeans

Judd’s a high priestess in The Church of the Perpetually Outraged. GinaLou’s just an acolyte.

    • trixiewoobeans

Your attempts at witty putdowns are “wildly” unsuccessful.

    • Krystle

The “out of work” is really a joke. The work she does isn’t all the impressive. Oh…another variation on ‘Kiss the Girls’! What a bold choice! The point is, she wants to be senator from KENTUCKY and thinks mining is rape. She’s obviously a MENSA candidate.

    • MarcusFenix

And you and your liberal friends would be the pinnacle of perpetual and misplaced outrage, thus your skill at seeing it so clearly. Now, when it comes to conservative actresses or popular figures, where’s your stance on that? Or are you going to run away again like you did on the “irony” issue? :)

I would agree, however, that’s she’s not really out of work. Her filmography has works listed currently as well as some in 2011…2012 missing due to her political run and the like. The list has at least 1 entry from pretty much every year, sans 2005 and 2008 i believe. But when you look at the list of things she’s done in the last…..11 years, the last thing she did that won any critical acclaim was in 2002 with the Sisterhood movie. 11 years in the movies can be a lifetime.

    • Catchance

I think this is just plain nasty and not necessary, even if I disagree with her politics. Is this where the right get their reputation from?

    • nc

Alma, I usually try not to be personally nasty, but Judd did “ask” for this, plus she has a well documented history of tweeting plenty of snark against conservatives. And you must admit, compared to what conservative women get (e.g. Stacey Dash) this is nothing. Best to you!

      • AlmaAlma

That’s what I can’t stand about the left, how nasty they can be, especially to the women of the right. It would have been nice if one side could set an example.

        • nc

I appreciate where you’re coming from, but honestly, and unfortunately, it doesn’t do much good in cases like this. Too often with lefties, when you turn the other cheek, it just gives them a new place to slap you.

          Sad, I know.
