Did the RNC make a big mistake last fall? A new report by ABC News’ Jonathan Karl has many conservatives seeing red.

Karl reports that this ad was put together by the RNC last fall but was “scrapped at the last minute because of objections from the Romney campaign, which was concerned the ad would distract from Romney’s efforts to focus on the economy.”

Regardless of whether or not the Romney campaign actually played a role in the RNC’s final decision, many conservatives are frustrated and angry with the RNC for keeping the ad buried at a time when the American public needed to know the truth:

It certainly couldn’t hurt.

Well, better late than never.

  • thehappyhedgehog

Romney certainly went after Obama over Benghazi in debate… and Obama ate his lunch.

    • Sam

With bullshit information. And Piggy Crowley enabled his lies.

      • Ignatz

The only “bullshit information” was Romney’s claim that Obama didn’t call it terrorism.

Romney believed that because he got his information from the same places you do, and, like you, lost the ability to distinguish truth from falsehood because he was in an ideological bubble, and spent his time listening to the repetition of lies.

        • angeleyez

Mitt Romney lost because many Republicans
are ignorant apathetic bigots and they did not
vote for him because of it.
Progressive Liberals are already joined at the
hip to vote for Hillary in 2016.
Do not buy the Left’s narrative on what happened
          in Benghazi.
          . . . . . . . . . . . . . . STAY . FOCUSED . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Was Secretary of State Hilarious Clinton responsible
for the seven hour attack on the Benghazi embassy
that ended in the death of Ambassador Stevens ?
          ▲ YES
          ▼ NO

          • Elaine

She’s the next chosen one and that’s why she came back from all the attacks on her to kiss BO’s A$$. Bill wants to be the first first man. He misses his desk.
PS: It’s funny most of those attacks by BO against the Hillster and her responses to them, have been scrubbed from the internet. Guess we cant make them eat those words.

        • ObamaFail

Obama didn’t call it terrorism until nearly 2 weeks after the fact. And only because more info came out and he didn’t want to look bad. If new info hadn’t have come out, that terrorist loving bastard you lives worship would have kept blaming a video and a protest that didn’t even happen in Benghazi.

        • Angie

Obama did NOT call “it” (the Benghazi attack) terrorism. Unfortunately 52% of the people in this country are as stupid as you & don’t understand how pronouns work so the mere fact that Obama mentioned “terrorists acts” at the very end of his Rose Garden speech in very general terms & with no connection whatsoever to “it” (the Benghazi attack) was MORE than enough to confuse the moron horde. Romney, OTOH, knows how to parse a sentence and has good reading comp skills & — sadly for him & this country — he way over-estimated the intelligence of the American people.

          • Ignatz

[the mere fact that Obama mentioned “terrorists acts” at the very end of his Rose Garden speech]

A speech that was entirely about the attacks on Benghazi and the day after the attacks of Benghazi.

If you think it was about something else, it can only be because you are desperate to BELIEVE that it was about something else. The WHOLE DAMNED SPEECH was about Benghazi.

      • Elaine

It would not have mattered at all. The media had made up their mind. It would have been one more thing they could turn into an attack against Romney. “Smear, lies” or w/e they are saying right NOW about Benghazi. They just don’t care at all. We are stuck with this tyrant.

    • 3seven77

Correction: Candy Crowley ran interference. And Candy the Cow clears a wide swath when she runs. Funny how that transcript “just happened” to be right at Candy’s fingertips….

      • http://itsaboutliberty.com/ Roy Rogers

It “magically” appeared on Hillary’s coffee table

    • DizzyMissL

No. His handlers screwed up by not telling him about the mention of terror in 0’s speech the next day. I was jumping up and down when he said it because I KNEW Obama would strike. If I knew it, they should have known it.

      Bunch of incompetent idiots

      • Angie

You are as dumb as the Obots if you think Obama mentioning terrorist attacks in general terms one time at the very end of his Rose Garden speech was him calling the Benghazi attack “terrorism.”

People like YOU should just register Dem. because you are de facto Dem supporters.

        • DizzyMissL

He mentioned the WORD terror. And if I was smart enough to know that Obama would take it and run with it then freaking Romney’s handlers should have known it.

I am sorry that you are too stupid to see it.

    • ObamaFail

With Candy Crowley (the “unbiased” moderator) helping Obama cover up the lies, of course Obama wasn’t effected by it. Besides, you libs didn’t care about Benghazi anyway. You guys were just worried that the welfare and food stamps wouldn’t keep coming every month and you’d have to get off your worthless lib asses if Romney was elected.

      • rinodino

        WAaaambulance time!!

    • http://www.FireKarlRove.com/ C. Edmund Wright

No, fat Candy ate everybody’s lunch.

      • SpinMeNot

And we have a winner … I am glad I switched back to my tablet.

    • Angie

Only idiots think Obama beat Romney in the 2nd debate — having to have the “moderator” jump in & LIE for you and shut the other guy up doesn’t equal a win.

      • rinodino

        Ya lost get over it

    • tjp77

Actually no. Candy Crowly dispensed with two centuries worth of debate etiquette and jumped in to lie on behalf of Obama.

    • Mary

Seems to me Romney has been right about a lot of things..Russia for one.Benghazi, another.

      • sodakhic

The only one right about everything is Palin.

      • rinodino

Except those pesky polls seems like you and everybody else in the fringe was dead wrong

    • answer1776

Only with the coordinated performance from the Crawley Candy.

    • detroit19

Because O lied, and the MSM let him get away with it, like they always do. We would’ve been lucky to have an intelligent, principled man in the White House in place of the incompetent community organizer, ‘I voted present’ POS potus we’re now stuck with for another three + years,

    • Red Fred

No, Crowley stole his lunch. Big difference.

  • Sam

What difference, at this point, does it make?

I say this with great sadness.

    • barney59

      … and a clinch-fisted little screech…

    • catb55

      RNC/GOP … G-D cowards!

  • Lady 12

If Romney had anything to do with scrapping this ad, then he deserved to lose

  • DizzyMissL

Face it. Romney was a complete idiot.

    • angeleyez

are you the reason for Obama ?

      • DizzyMissL

        What do you mean?

        • ThomasER916

You’re not this stupid are you?

          • DizzyMissL

Apparently so. Give me a clue.

        • Guest

You just proved that you are.

    • ObamaFail

And Obama and his Democrat cronies are even dumber. Seriously, the economy is in a tail spin and they want MORE TAXES AND MORE SPENDING. Of course, higher taxes don’t effect liberals. No liberal actually has a job and pays taxes.

      • DizzyMissL

Well, they were smarter than us. They got elected.

        • Zanshi

Offering “free” stuff to imbeciles requires intelligence? Since when?

Political Savvy and Intellect are totally different things.

  • 3seven77

I’ve often wondered at which point it was that Romney decided he didn’t want the Presidency? Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

  • DizzyMissL

We damn sure need to use it against Hillary

  • disqus_G8xi77DYlj

Romney and the GOP scrapped the Benghazi ad, BC THEY ARE BOUGHT AND PAID FOR BY THE SAME PUPPET MASTERS THAT OWN OBAMA. The New World Order wanted Obama back in to continue the destruction of America, to wreck the economy even further, climb the debt higher and eventually crash the entire system. Obama is the better salesman, Romney would have been doing the EXACT same things as Obama is doing now, BOTH PARTIES are CONTROLLED. Obama was re SELECTED for a reason, the communists that have hijacked this nation want him there. Romney was a ringer, he was selected to LOSE, just like McCain was, everything is staged and scripted in American politics. Obama’s agenda is to disarm the people of this country, open the borders completely, allowing 50 M illegal aliens to flood in and to ensure the communists NEVER lose another selection again, implement Agenda 21, carbon taxes coming from the FAKE HOAX that is climate change, shutdown all fire burning coal plants, doubling energy costs, etc. Destroy the military, make sure everyone is either metrosexual or gay, crush the family and the institution of marriage, Obama is a satanic Illuminati front man that has been groomed by the CIA his entire life for this role to destroy America and cause the 2nd American civil war.

You know why I think they didn’t run it?

Because they aren’t nutjobs. You are, and everyone knows it except you.

    • Jack Deth

      Geeeee, Ignatz.

Did you learn that big word, “nutjobs” all by yourself? Or did someone at Salon, DU, Kos or HuffPo teach it to you through repetition?

    • ThomasER916

Yeah, you’re stupid. Thanks for reminding us.

    • rinodino

      Ha! Love it!

  • chewydog

So now, the RNC gives this info to…ABC? I quit.

  • Michael Anderson (WB)

I suspect it was canceled because Romney is a class act and did not want to stand on the backs of dead Americans and their families to win an election. I hope I would be as honorable.

    • DizzyMissL

For the love of God, do you want to win or be considered a nice guy/girl???

      • catb55

WIN … man I am sick of being called names when I am nice or not … why not play the game the way they do … anything goes!

      • Michael Anderson (WB)

Winning is great, but if I have to lose who I am is it really winning? If we have to become as nasty and vile as the Democrats in order to win what’s the good of winning? Unless it is only about power and not about what is right we have to maintain some difference.

    • ThomasER916

You’re placing honor above truth. You’re no different from a Lib.

Memo to future Conservative Republicans seeking office:

    Be afraid. Be very afraid!

  • walterc

More of the circular firing squad that ran the McCain campaign.

When is the GOP going to start campaigning to win?

  • bo1921

“scrapped at the last minute because of objections from the Romney campaign, which was concerned the ad would distract from Romney’s efforts to focus on the economy.”
All the while the obama machine was focused on destroying Romney.

  • radicallyalyssa

That was quite sickening to watch, especially after listening to the testimonies from the three whistleblowers. It’s a shame itwasn’t shown, but honestly, would people have even known what it was about, anyway? My twenty-something-year-old friends don’t even know what “Benghazi” is. I have a feeling showing this video wouldn’t have done anything, anyway.

    • ImTheNana

      Thank the MSM

  • socalcon

    “Conservatives demand to know why”
I’ll tell you why, theyfeared when it ultimately ‘blew up’ some of the shiite would land on colleagues.

This is why I say: WTF? Karl Rove and the Establishment Lost…Again! That includes Mitt, Rove, Mitt’s team, Reince and the RNC, all of them….tepid, weak, uncoorindated campaign of single issues, no ability whatsoever to tie things into a big picture.

  • Canadian in USA

Just saw the ad on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDTwinxH5W0

Dang it’s good! Makes me even more angry that this wasn’t aired!

  • http://twitter.com/lazypadawan lazypadawan

That’s the GOP for ya, trying to be The Nice Party. Then again, would it have made a difference to a self-absorbed country?

    • catb55

Why be nice ??? They are just going to lie and call names anyway .. go for broke … bring it all on! I swear so sick of R wimpy men!

      • sacha

I too am sick of the ball-less, spineless, bending over and grabbing their ankles wimps’ a.k.a Republican men. The same bunch of ball-less wonders are the leadership in the House of Representatives; which is why they don’t use their power to defund Obamacare, and block all of Obama’s Progressive-Marxist agenda which BTW the majority of American people don’t approve of Obama’s handling of the economy, immigration, and gun control.

        • DizzyMissL

  • socalcon

The RNC “was concerned the ad would distract from Romney’s efforts to focus on the economy”? Multi-tasking is essentual to a successful presidency. Can’t prove it in the campaign, why would it be expected in the administration?
The ‘three-legged stool’ of the campaign should have been 1. Economy 2. Immigration 3. Foreign Affairs/Terrorism. All three share the commonalities of trust /experience/ and vision. Bengazi shows the Administration has neither the experience in the Foriegn Affairs theatre, vision to anticipate the influence of the Arab Spring nor the AAQ build up nor earned the trust of the electorate to execute protecting US interests abroad. (BTW, their subsequent actions prove this).
Hence, the RNC is tainted by the ‘establishment republicans’ and it is rightfully afraid of the TEA party types.

  • socalcon

I’m almost as big an idiot, though.
Not a dime to the RNC through Bush’s “Political Capital” tour–Steele’s self-absorption while heading the RNC–Destruction of Palin (don’t care who it was, don’t destroy your own candidate)–RNC not challenging ‘open primary’ states
    Then on Sept 1, 2012 sent ’em dough. Duh! {palm to forehead}

  • answer1776

I am again asking the question: Who was running the Romney campaign? The DNC hired operatives?

    • DizzyMissL

  • AZWarrior

Suggest that the Republicans nominate somebody capable and willing to take hard hitting actions, not some turn-the-other-cheek Mormon. Politics are a full contact sport. Deal with it accordingly.

  • ThomasER916

    RNC needs to go!

    • answer1776

If you mean the GOP Losership, then Yes!

      • ThomasER916

The RNC and the DNC act like a circle of friends drawing water from the same fetid swamp. I wasn’t surprised when one of Rubio’s staffers was hired from Soros.

Rand Paul is giving the greatest filibuster of our time, probably the most important in American history, and the old GOP Progs are shouting him down before they head off to dine with Obama. The corruption runs deep.

  • GaryTheBrave

Romney avoided anything that could be remotely linked to W. That’s why he never mentioned how great the economy was when the Congress was under GOP control.

So why would he not let the RNC run the ad? The date of September 11th is the anniversary of the Terrorist Attacks here. The ad opens with’ “September 11, 2012”. That linked it with 9/11/01, W’s term.

I also noticed how rarely he allowed local/congressional GOP candidates on his stage.

  • Adela Wagner

We were fighting for this country, they should have come at that election with BOTH GUNS BLAZING! (pun intended) (don’t like my pun? I don’t care)

    • DizzyMissL

They were a bunch of wimps.

      • Adela Wagner

EXACTLY, very noble to want to run a “clean” campaign. But that won’t get you far when your opponent is a back alley sewer rat backed by thuggish oafs who use Chicago tactics such as “by any means necessary”, including lies, threats, bribes, and midnight backroom deals. You simply MUST shine a light on EVERYTHING, ALL the Evil…They really should replace Reince Priebus. And no More totally liberal hacks running the debates…what the HELL WAS THAT?

        • DizzyMissL

LOL, I know, right? And we should have known. I mean, look at what they did to Billary–made them out to be racists. Debbie Liarwoman Schultz was perfect for them

  • Seola

I favor Romney’s choice, you guys give Obamabots too much credit… I’ll explain. We know A LOT of Benghazi now, no – it’s not enough yet, but we have heard heartbreaking testimony and Hilary’s attitude. Both of those came *after* the election. It was barely a month before the election before the administration even admitting it was a terrorist “outright”. Now remember that the vast majority of left and middle voters 1) Had no idea what “a Benghazi” was, 2) Hadn’t even heard the word, or 3) Heard the word on the news but still thought it was a YouTube video. It would have been a great ad… if it had actually managed to get to anyone who would have voted for Obama and who knew what Benghazi was and how bad Obama/Hilary bungled it.

So running an ad that to most people looked like it could be an attack on Repubs (because it looks like a “house fire” to the average Obot voter since they don’t know what it is – and that no one showed up, while Obama’s administration was hammering it that Romney’s plan would leave you raped, tortured or dead from not having any police or firefighters). When you add in that the bigger point of the RNC/Romney campaign was that Obama was using dead people for his political furthering… you can’t really put out an ad doing the same thing, when no one will understand the depth anyway. All risk, very little reward.

    • SpinMeNot

This is a salient point … and even after the testimony the left and the progressive trolls on this board are twisting the facts and telling us we are still being wrong headed.

Sometimes, discretion is the better part of valor.

If you want to win an election, you do WHATEVER IT TAKES (legally). Never take no for an answer if it shames your opponents.

The economy was important, but its worthless now since Obummer got back in. In politics, NEVER pull your punches.

  • lonestar

They didn’t run it because they were afraid they would win. Romney wasn’t going to be the man who took the Presidency from the 1st black President. Riots were promised if barry lost.

  • rinodino

You fringe folks still don’t get it…. Obama would beat Romney 99 times out of 99 times for the presidency. Get a good candidate and you might stand a chance

    • http://discus.com yourmamatoo

      Obama’s a sad joke.
It just shows what low info voters do .
Votes on anything but the issues.
And why is it, unemployment is higher today than lt was in 08 ? Even after a trillion dollars wasted on stimulus?

  • vanbratch

I guess Tag Romney was right. His dad DIDN’T want the job :/

  • DorothyGrissom

This ad has power today in light of the recent revelations about the Benghazi cover-up. One has to wonder if the ad would have had the same impact during Romney’s campaign, before the cover-up was so clearly exposed.
