Sen. Rand Paul believes that union membership and dues shouldn’t be compulsory. Perish the thought! Thank goodness for real reporters like Terry Moran who can shed a light on shady conservatives like Paul.

And by “real reporters,” we mean “hacks.”

Isn’t it, though?

Hey Terry, your bias is showing — and it’s not flattering.

Oh good. I was hoping ol’ Ter would say something stupid. It’s been far too long.

It takes a loooooong time for him to crank up an active thought process.

Hate to say it as a Conservtive, but I agree with him, it’s a state issue. The Feds need to stay out states rights issues. 10th amendment. The federal government has no more right to impose a national right to work law than they do a health insurance mandate.

A year ago (hell, six months ago) I would have agreed. Unfortunately, I think us Cons need to take the gloves off and fight like progs. Low Information Voters seem to think that Governors, Mayors, City Counsels, etc. are appointed by The One.

You are right on principal but, there is a twist. Since the feds have states dependent on their money(IE Highway funds) then the Feds have been known to try to cause problems behind the scene(Without any real threats on paper). Until the state get a better hold on their budgets; we stuck with the current mess. I think Sen. Paul’s proposal is necessary.

It’s only a state issue if there’s no overriding national interest or natural law conflict. In this case, it’s the latter — compulsory union membership is a violation of freedom of association. It’s essentially a civil rights violation, and is not subject to the “laboratory of democracy” of the individual states.

    • bonnieblue2A

It is a state issue where federal employees or those overseen/administered by federal bureaucracies are not involved. However, where the aforementioned are involved it should be addressed by federal law.

“Card Check” is an abomination and thinly veiled intimidation of those who would vote against the unions. Right to work seeks to prevent that institutionalized union intimidation from occuring via default and allow true choice in the workplace.

Terry Moran’s claim to fame was a constant commentator on the OJ trial many moons ago. Hardly a relevant individual and one who does not always share a patriotic view of the U.S. that renders him useless in my book.

Twitchy usually posts a picture of the person that is the subject of the article. Why did this story have a picture of a Code Pink costume?

The national “law” would forbid people from being forced in to a union just because of your job industry. Why should city governments be able to force ALL public employees in to unions whose money gets spent as the union bosses sees fit, usually a kickback to the politicians that made union membership mandatory in the first place. This is the most blatant and in your face form of corruption in America today….

For the statists choice is only allowed when a woman wants to abort the human fetus growing in her womb. However, they will not allow choice in working without joining unions or defending one’s life via arms. No choice of schools. No choice of healthcare/insurance.
