As Americans try to come to grips with higher taxes, some are hoping to cash in on the Child Tax Credit — by borrowing other people’s children:

Evidently, some people are already doing it:

Gotta love American ingenuity. Yeesh.

  • b_truit

Annnnnnd 99% of these folks voted for higher taxes….or wait that free stuff?

    • Matt Cochran

      In some precincts 127%

      • Rulz

They like taxes so much they voted twice!

    • conservativechick

I’m claiming at least three illegal aliens.

  • Moue La Moue (D)

Oh, the stupidity — it hurts! It huuuuuurts!

  • Poopiekins22

My little tax break will be born in June! 😀

    • Lady 12

    • bballron43

Got news its not a tax break, it takes a couple hundred thousand to raise a child

      • Jillane Kent

Any mitigation of the cost is appreciated :)

      • Rulz

Sure, if you think the kid deserves or “has a right” to everything.

    • Nelia Aria

congrats on your new little tax break

  • GaryTheBrave

When they file their taxes for next year and they see they’re not getting their normal refunds, they’ll complain to their CongressCritter. Next Summer there will be a hue and cry to cut taxes. The CongressCritters will do so but the Dems will take exclusive credit just in time for the mid-term elections.

    • b_truit

      You sir are correct.

      • GaryTheBrave

  • John Kerry’s Forehead

Why is it that most of these people look like and type like Obama supporters?

    • Zane Henry

it’s what happens when you vote for revenge, skin color, etc.

“Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.” Confuscious

  • Mike B

Hm. So, use the kid as a tax break, and as a thank you, saddle him with the bill for it when he hits adulthood? The nerve of some people…

    • bballron43

She doesnt underdstand it takes a couple hundred K to raise a child unless Obama is picking up the tab

      • TexSizzle

Of course, by Obama, you mean those of us who pay taxes.

  • JWhit~

Embarrassed. Shocked and trying to figure out what’s the going rate on a rent-a-kid.

  • orringtonmom (D)

hopefully most these people are kidding. i mean, i’m sure they are upstanding law abiding citizens, right? and they all only voted once? and the earth is flat? and the sky is green? and the moon is made of cheese?

    • dmacleo

I gotta ask, you from Maine?
the username is why I ask, about 30 miles as crow flies from me

      • orringtonmom (D)

i live in maine… not born here. didn’t want to offend by saying “from” lest you be a real mainah. 😉

        • dmacleo

          LOL a transplant :)
I’m in etna, not too far away.
          heat wave today, 28 with a 30mph wind :)

          • orringtonmom (D)

husband grew up in carmel. re: temps you know there is some goober wearing shorts out there. i always seem to see them at the gas station.

          • dmacleo

          • orringtonmom (D)

ah, the official snowblowing uniform. bean boots, too? lol

  • beebop1952

Interesting that NONE of them are offering to RAISE A CHILD, merely to take advantage of the tax code. Why do I not find that at all surprising?

  • Jim Denney

There is no such thing as an “extra” kid. Unfortunately ignorant women can spawn as many “chil-ren” as they want, and their (our) payments just continue to increase.

Yet another example of liberals inability to understand basic math and governmental incentives. Cap payments at one child (citizens only), and these women will be on “free” contraceptives faster than Sandra Fluke on a dorm mattress.

    • Michelle

Ignorant women can’t spawn any “chil-ren” without the input of an…ignorant man.

      • Jim Denney

That’s very true, that is why I added the adjective “ignorant.” I wish there were some way to penalize the “baby daddies” but since most of them are on welfare themselves, the taxpayer ends up paying for the whole shooting match (no pun intended).

  • GaryTheBrave

Why rent a kid? Have someone who makes the Social Security cards for illegals invent one for you.

  • willbest

As humorous as this may be, the person with the kid is probably getting 3 times the benefits from their child in means tested benefits as you would in tax deductions.

  • $23629333

Where was this “rent-a-kid” when I was doing shift work? Imagine, I could have had more sleep and more money.

  • stuckinIL4now

What happens next year when the IRS comes to collect the ObamaScare/RobertsTax for the child’s health insurance coverage?

    • bballron43

  • Sunny_Samuels

I have been preparing taxes for 9 years. I can’t wait till these jerks get caught and have to pay it all back, in addition to losing the right to file for the earned income credit for ten years.

  • Hello Jerry (D)

I should become an IRS agent… these people would be up shit creek!

    • JustLikeAnimals

Just forward a screenshot of the above tweets to the IRS. They can do the ID investigations pretty easily.

  • Steve_J

Who’s dumber the people wanting to rent the children and split the money with the parent(s) or the parent(s) who go for the plan instead of claiming their own children and the entire deduction?

    • TexSizzle

They probably don’t make enough money to need the deductions.

  • Terry_Jim

4 more years of this crap, and Jerry Nadler will be on the wooden $500,000,000,000 coin.
…with the buying power of today’s nickel.

  • MoxieLouise

I’m claiming my Shih Tzu this year. She’s a little hairy, but she has a vocabulary of over 500 words so I’m sure she’s smarter than most of these rent-a-kids. And I really do support her.

  • stillinthe60s

I hear Obama’s going to sign an executive order that will allow taxpayers to claim up to 25 undocumented immigrants. Only caveat is you have to be a registered Democrat, union member and/or unemployed. You also have make sure you get all of them to the polls to vote for his third, fourth and fifth terms.

  • CR

Typical poor financial planning- they focus on the tax break from the extra kid but completely forget to focus on the extra welfare benefits and food stamps they can get from having the kid (I’m sure worth WAY more than the tax deduction). These people can’t even screw the system correctly!!

    • RightThinking1

You may be overlooking the Child Tax Credit. Subject to income restrictions (it gets dropped for higher earners) , there is up to a $1000/child in tax credit available to filers. Which is to say, if you owe $1000 in income tax, but have a child, bingo, no tax (OR a $1000 refund if it has been withheld). For those whose liability is less than $1000, cha-ching!, they collect a cash payment for the difference, i.e., if my tax liability is $800, then I get $200. Pretty cool, huh? Well, for the recipients…, not so much for real taxpayers.

After the law was enacted, filings magically went up, although, for some reason, pro rata collection went down. Imagine that.

      • BeeKaaay

And with all the other tax credits that involve children, it could easily turn a $800 refund to a $5,000 refund.

How many of these requests are being made by Obama supporters?

    • JustLikeAnimals

From the tweets above looks like 99.9999999999%

  • JustLikeAnimals

Game the system, baby. Game the system. Tax laws work about as well as gun laws and immigration laws. This country is turning into a f&^%ing joke.

    • stillinthe60s

TURNED–November 6th and it was a mighty bad one.

  • Tommy

    Nothing new.

  • stillinthe60s

So Obama’s voters want a tax benefit using someone else’s child without any responsibility of providing resources for raising one. And doing so would also reduce the tax revenue for government programs that could support other people’s children. How typically liberal of them.

  • BeeKaaay

I wonder how many IRS agents will be monitoring twitter looking for new revenue and promotions? :)

I know if I were in the IRS and was a revenue agent judged by how much money I brought in, that’s where I’d be looking. Auditing time! :)

  • ked5

but, but, this is what they voted for. I guess “elections have consequences”.

  • lcky9

it’s SOOOOO funny and sad,, I have a sister that does that and looks for anyone else she can claim as a dependent.. Has NEVER gotten back what she paid into taxes always gets MORE .. and the ONLY one she has is her and my brother in law.. and has two cash incomes.. amazingly the IRS has never asked her how she pays the mortgage, utilities and eats on what she claims she makes.. OH WELL..btw she’s an Obama supporter..
