Patrick Brogan, Gebhard’s uncle, said the officer had been arguing with the young man on Facebook about Black Lives Matter. He went on to say Gebhard, who was biracial, related to the group but did not participate in any protests.
Gebhard knew the family and had recently made online threats toward them and “uninvolved members of the community.”
The officer, who is a three-year-veteran, is on administrative leave pending the investigation.
