As Twitchy reported, the calls for Rep. Akin to drop out of the Missouri U.S. Senate race keep coming. However, Rep. Akin just reiterated his decision to stay in the race.

Listen for yourself:

Twitter users react and aren’t too pleased, to say the least.

Others hope for unity.

The Left is pleased.

Twitchy will continue to monitor and update with developments.

Update: Rep. Akin will be speaking with’s Dana Loesch shortly.

Putting it mildly.

He reaffirmed that he’s not getting out again this afternoon.

Update: Akin appeared on Sean Hannity’s radio show yesterday and said he was staying in.

He did it again today:

Todd Akin to Sean Hannity: ‘My interest in this race has to do with America’; Akin digs in

Perhaps Akin should consider how many more kids will be aborted if Republicans can’t take back the Senate in November and ObamaCare remains law of the land? This guy is going to gamble with the welfare of this nation just because of his own ego? If he stays in the race, he had better turn into an independent, because the Republican party will want nothing to do with him.

No, don’t be sorry. He definitely is, and his idiocy just gives the libs ammo. This crap is all over the news now, when Mitt has been on such a roll. This is negative publicity that the liberal media jumps all over and uses to paint us all with the same brush. Meanwhile, as kch posted, the MSM completely ignores the issue of the lib in Minnesota having a gay tryst with a 17 year old at a rest area.

Let this be a lesson to all conservatives. Never, ever, EVER, discuss or answer a question about abortion until after you get elected and even then LIE through your teeth. Work on it, but never talk about it.

Fail. Akin is the only person who wants Akin to stay in. This is beyond painful.

We already have to drag Romney across the finish line; fine–I guess MO will have to do double-duty to get this guy across as well. Hey, if I were in MO; though I wish Akin would have been adult about this, I would vote for him. I don’t think I like him, however. Very egotistic of you, Mr. Akin. You know you should have bowed out.

    He’s selfish.

I want Claire McCaskill to lose.
