  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

And the effective difference between Thad Cochran saying this, and, e.g., Joe Biden saying this is WHAT, exactly?

    • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

Cochran may claim to be a Republican, but his accusations of racism with no evidence or real examples to back it up make him sound like a Democrat.

      • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

If it walks like a Biden and it talks like a Biden…it don’t matter that he calls himself a Cochran. (He’s a “cockROACH,” more like)

        • DebsFriends

It is going to be interesting who can out promise whom In the November elections. I don’t understand why a state allows the crossover voting in their primaries. Registered dems shouldn’t be allowed to choose a gop candidate and vica versa. It was time for Cochran to retire. Looks like that’s not going to happen. We can’t rid ourselves of these career politicians.

    • John Galt

Cochran racist smear campaign against the Tea Party gives an indication how little he can be trusted. Would he switch to the Democratic Party if it served his needs? Yep
      .
Don’t think Harry Reid doesn’t know this. Arlen Spector did it and provided a vital vote for ObamaCare.

  • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

Cochran is using the Democrat tactic of accusing the Tea Party of racism without any evidence or real examples to back it up. Looks like he just lost the Primary.

    • conservativechick

I don’t understand any Republican attacking the Tea Party types!? Are they not for smaller government, too?

      • H50 ✓RAT

No RINOs are as bad as the progs when it comes to power.
TP supports, smaller responsible and accountable government, so TP is a threat to RINOs.

        • conservativechick

I hope Cochran realizes that all those black Dems who voted him in, will vote for his Democrat opponent in November.

          • H50 ✓RAT

He doesnt care. He had to win the primary.

      • sigh

No they just want to manage the decline.

      • Baseballguy2001

Not necessarily. Tea Party, or Taxed Enough Already, voters truly want smaller, more limited government. Republicans used to be limited government types, but most now think they can make big government “smarter”.

  • Kawfy

The ruling class are bipartisan in their contempt for the citizens

  • HiltonHead_Dude

When a republican uses the race card, and adopts the strategies of the left to win a republican primary, it’s time for that republican to go home. Good god, if this isn’t a reason for term limits I don’t know what is.

    • BAW

I’ve always considered it to be a better solution for the voters to decide when to “term limit” those we elect. But clearly the system is rigged so that it is nearly impossible. The pros would still work the system and just move to other positions of power with term limits but at least we could put some limits on their lifetimes of “public service.” But they’ll never let us do that either. I’m finding it hard to be optimistic about anything today.

  • Richard J Sunkle

I generally don’t comment about races on other states or districts but

    Cochran is a real scumbag.

    • http://amandakmelson.wordpress.com/ GreenEyedGal

And it looks like Mississippi is going to send him back to DC.

      • Kawfy

do you know if dems are giving him the bump?

        • http://amandakmelson.wordpress.com/ GreenEyedGal

I don’t. I’m just watching the returns and it is not looking good for McDaniel. If I had to guess, I’d say the dems are helping.

          • Kawfy

sure seems like the BS ads are aimed at dems…but whadda i know

          • http://amandakmelson.wordpress.com/ GreenEyedGal

That’s exactly who they’re aimed at. Like Richard J. Sunkle said Cochran is a scumbag! What a POS. And in the meantime, the country is falling apart. Thanks establishment Republicans and Democrats.

Unbelievable. Youd think this would piss folks off.
Saddest part is that there are a bunch of nincompoops buying it.

      • Kawfy

Can dems vote in this runoff?

        • H50 ✓RAT

I dont know what the rules are there. Here we have a vote for the day rule that progs use to torpedo republicans all the time.

        • H50 ✓RAT

OK, if you blow up the mailer and read the rules at the bottom its a free for all if you didnt vote on the third, but I cant read the rest.

          • Kawfy

still….if Cochran had any integrity he would denounce the tea party racist meme…power intoxication trumps for this turd

          • H50 ✓RAT

100% agree. This is outrageous. Your ‘operatives’ are carrying your banner, your responsible for them. If its dirty pool games and you dont denounce them, you own them IMO.

Yes, they can. As long as they didn’t vote on June 3.

  • greatunconformity

Democrats can vote in this primary as long as they didn’t vote in the previous democrat primary. Another reason I’ve always felt primaries should be closed to only members of the particular party running the primary.

CNN Finds Some Black Democrats Who Voted for GOP Sen. Thad Cochran

Polls are about to close in Mississippi where Republican Senator Thad Cochran is currently trying to fight off a primary challenge from the tea party-backed Chris McDaniel. CNN’s Dana Bashtraveled to Mississippi Tuesday where she confirmed some of McDaniel’s worst fears by finding a handful of African-American Democrats who came out to vote for Cochran.

“It may be a Republican runoff between GOP incumbent senator Thad Cochran and tea party challenger Chris McDaniel, but to these Democrats, allowed by law to vote in this race, party doesn’t matter,” Bash said, before showing short interviews she conducted with black voters outside polling places today. The “life-long Democrats” voted for their first Republican candidate on Tuesday, presumably thanks to increased outreach Cochran has done to that demographic.

Six year Cochran…. you’d better pray for redemption, because after this little stunt, the tea party, decent republicans should picket, ridicule you at every public event… you love the democrats so much, you even lie, and cheat like they do…

I don’t know how true this is. But I really hope it’s not.

      • Mary Mommy Happy 2016!

I really still can’t believe all that’s going on. It’s really despicable.

    • H50 ✓RAT

Without a doubt its true. Fear works. Pull up the specter of Jim Crow for older black folks and they will show up in droves out of fear of history repeating its self.
      Truly despicable.

      • Mary Mommy Happy 2016!

It’s all a big steaming despicable mess. This is the kind of corruption crap that the tea party want to fight against.

        • globalcrap

It’s hard to fight , when a lot of republicans are turning into O Bogus socialist democrats.

        • QueenB

Which is why establishment GOP doeantblike the Tea Party.

  • Batschach

This is disgusting and pathetic. If Cochran wins it will be from these jerks from the Democrat Party coming in and voting just to keep a conservative from winning the Republican primary. This is why open primaries are a bad idea.

    • nc ✓s & balances

      Agree!

  • Jeane

Who is worse, the politicians who put out filthy smears, or the voters who lap it up and vote accordingly? I can’t decide, but the numbers of both seem to be rising rapidly.

    • H50 ✓RAT

      Both

  • globalcrap

If the republican’s had any guts, they would put up posters , and tell these low information voters what liars they are. Also tell them how rich they are, living a life style, while they keep them in the ghettoes.

    • Cory

      I’m not in the ghettoes….

Drudge calls it ………… Cochran wins.

      Not yet.

  • http://www.black-and-right.com/ Ice Cold Troll

Haven’t you heard? EVERYTHING is racist now!

    http://everythingisracism.com/

  • nc ✓s & balances

According to RCP, as of this moment, 84% of the vote is in and Cochran is leading by only 2%. They have not yet called it.

BTW, Cochran is 76. Why would anyone his age fight so hard for a job with a 6-year contract when he could go home with a very comfortable pension?

    • http://www.jabootu.com/acolytes/bnotes/ Apostic

“Why would anyone his age fight so hard for a job with a 6-year contract when he could go home with a very comfortable pension?”
That would be the reasonable thing to do. This, on the other hand, is Cochran.

  • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

Has anyone yelling about how racist the tea party is managed to cough up anything in the way of evidence to back it up?
Whereas, we have buttloads of evidence that the dems are racist trash.

    • Cory

As evidence by their presidential selection. Darn racists!

  • nc ✓s & balances

Looks like RCP just called it for Cockroach Cochran with 98% of the vote in.

  • ScarlettNY

Feel sick. I hope McDaniels runs as an Independent. These Repukes will do anything to win, they are drunk with power.

  • Cory

Those ads were pretty ridiculous lol, but it got the job done.

  • frozeninbemidji

If this doesn’t convince people that the establishment in both parties are 2 sides to the same coin, I don’t know what ever could. No more holding my nose to vote.

  • Dobermite

So what have we learned here?

The GOPe would rather form an unholy alliance with liberal democrats than allow Republican voters to nominate a genuine conservative … who really means it.

Make no mistake about it, thats exactly what happened here, Karl Rove, Haley Barber and the GOPe machine in Mississippi actually formed an unholy alliance with liberal democrats to defeat the will of Republican voters in Mississippi, who clearly favored McDaniel, and save Thad Cochran’s hyde.

    • jbtutor

And they a) barely pulled it off, b) I’m hearing that a lot of the cross-over voting may have been by Democrats who also voted in the Democratic primary 3 weeks ago, which isn’t likely to be legal, and is easily provable with voter rolls.

      • QueenB

Yea…I’m sure someone will get right on checking that out to make sure everything was in the up and up.

        • jbtutor

Apparently the onus, as well as the right, belongs to the McDaniel campaign, so they’d better get their rears in gear.

          • QueenB

I believe that is his plan but with not only democrats, but republicans as well, not sure how far he’s gonna get.

          • jbtutor

The voter rolls will be pretty unambiguous. I understand there were enough new voters for Cochran in a single county that’s had substantial funny business in the recent past (a mayor race) to more than account for the margin of victory. If there was fraud that naked then more power to McDaniel and may greater powers speed him upon his way.

  • BAW

It’s bad enough when Republicans accept the left’s narrative about people on the right but when they engage in perpetuating the lies about their own, I find it even even more offensive. Either they know it’s not true and will do anything to win or they actually believe they are aligned with some truly horrible people. Either way, I want no more to do with them.

  • Beentheremovedaway

to me the disturbing thing about this rep is how many mainstream old school Republicans will endorse this. This man does not represent the Republican Party that I believe in. He needs to be put out to pasture to do an appropriate things with animals for the rest of his natural life. Time to go thaddy cakes!

  • jkstewart2

There was a time that being caught in such appalling tactics would cause the candidate to resign. Now the MSM celebrates the victory. I wonder how Thad will seek to regain the votes of the tea party. He will need their support if he hopes to win in November. If I was a Mississippi voter, it would be a cold day in hell before I would vote for a corrupt individual. I hope that there is a third candidate.

    • jbtutor

I’m asking myself if there has ever been a long list of Democrats who have resigned after being caught doing things like this, and I’m drawing a blank. OK, maybe Republicans have? But no, I’ve heard about “all fair in love and war” Democratic campaigns in urban areas and how blatantly racist they can be, especially one minority versus another. And I never heard of one resigning.

    • Renellin

I hope, if McDaniel doesn’t overturn the election, that he runs on the side as Tea Party independent.

  • Gallatin

Establishment republicans don’t get my vote for anything in November.

  • Gallatin

Don’t worry thad will roll out his “conservative” credentials in October.

  • BatCat

Establishment has jumped the shark. I will not vote for lying Progressive liberal Establishment Republicans. If they are our last hope…I will stay home. Like they say…at this point what difference does it make??

    • Renellin

I would rather have someone who is honest about being my enemy.

  • justlittlolme

Republicans whine about how Democrats act, but when it comes to dealing with their own, turn around and act just like them.
And then wonder why people are getting fed up!

  • sanfordandsons

Hey Cochran, do you really think that you will get any TEA Party vote in the fall? I bet you a pound of catfish that the next Senator from Mississippi will be a Democrat.
