Cairo court sentences 7 Christians to death for role in anti-Islam video; Update: 8 sentenced to death

On Wednesday, an Egyptian court sentenced seven Christians to death for their role in producing “Innocence of Muslims,” the crummy YouTube video that members of the Obama administration spent weeks blaming for the death of four Americans in Benghazi. In September, Egypt announced it would try the people involved in the film for “harming national unity, insulting and publicly attacking Islam and spreading false information.”

Some of those sentenced to death by the Cairo court are reportedly American citizens. All were tried and sentenced in absentia.

We eagerly await the Obama administration’s response to this latest outrage from the Religion of the Perpetually Insulted.

Update:

As this story develops, we learn that a total of eight people were sentenced to death by the Egyptian court.

The AP reports, “The case was largely symbolic since the seven men and one woman are outside of Egypt and unlikely to travel to the country to face the charges.”
