Get ready to fist-pump.

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-SC, delivered a passionate floor speech in support of the Enforce the Law Act, a bill aimed at holding the president accountable and putting executive overreach in check. Gowdy asked, “How does going from being a senator to a president rewrite the Constitution?” And he reminded everyone of Senator Obama’s own words. Words like this:

The House passed H.R. 4138 in a 233 to 181 vote. Conservatives cheered Gowdy’s speech and the bill that would “authorize the House or Senate to sue the executive branch for not enforcing laws and provide an expedited process through federal district courts.”

  • Cbomb

Why is he not running against Goober Graham?

    • Kimihiro Watanuki

I’m not sure. I wish he would.

    • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Blame the (*bwahahahahahaha*) Eeeeeeeee-vil Koch Brothers.
Why not? They’re supposed to be the puppeteers who control who gets nominated/elected on the Republican ticket.

      • SineWaveII

That one might need the sarc tag

    • CVN65

He’s been told to not do so. The GOP tightly controls who gets to run for state-wide and national office. If he pulls the maverick move they will turn on him. If he somehow primaries Graham they will not only not work with him, they will actively work against him. They would rather see a Dem elected than a Repub they do not have under control. Nothing matters to them more than power. Since they do none of the things they promise to do when they get the power one must suppose that they only want it to reward their donors and cronies and to line their own pockets.

  • Brandon Goeringer

I support the cloning of Trey Gowdy.

  • Andy Rigo ✓ᵗᵉʳʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Dems will call Mr. Gowdy a “hater” to try and marginalize him. But, I see nothing here but good old righteous indignation. Finally, a voice of opposition I can get behind. No more “reaching across the aisle!”

    • LeftistsStink

Southern equals “racist” in prog brains…but progs are narrow minded ignoramuses and are always wrong.
Trey Gowdy is AWESOME! Spartanburg gave us a GREAT one!

    • karmafordems

My right hand went immediately to my heart when Gowdy said he would NEVER stand and clap for a president who attempts to marginalize the Congress. Gowdy is the epitome of an American. Go Gowdy

  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Poor Trey Gowdy– doesn’t he know the Constitution is a “living breathing document” that means whatever you want it to mean? And doesn’t he know it’s unfair to quote a Senator who wasn’t the President at the time, and couldn’t possibly know the burdens the office places on a person to “get it right” and “do the right thing”? And how dumb can he be– surely he knows that Harry Reid would never allow such a bill ever to voted on in the Senate! “Separation of powers,” or “executive discretion,” or some such rationale, for thwarting this brazen attempt by the House of Representatives to see that what they and the Senate pass actually MEANS something, once it’s enacted!

Do I really need to sarc-tag this?

    • Doc Farmer ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

      Dagnabbit, Margret, I thank this feller’s ain’t sayin’ what he’s a meanin’ here…

    • Joaquin

says the guy who calls himself “the fake real guy” and what law degree do you have under your belt?

    • TheRealJackpineSavage

Well Guy, judging by Joaquin’s reply, I guess you do. :op

    • SineWaveII

      Nope. Well said.

  • Mr_Popular

America needs more men & women leaders like Trey Gowdy. Alright alright alright!

  • nc ✓s & balances

    I Heart Trey.

  • CatHerder ✓fire! ✓fire!

If that doesn’t leave a mark I don’t know what would. Very well done. Mr Gowdy!

  • Ghee!

More fearlessness like this from our side of the aisle would go a long way. My state only has Blackburn willing to get in front of topics and lead rather than follow. Sadly, we also have Alexander, Corker, DesJarlais, etc. that, for the most part, stay in the shadows. I only hope that the R’s will vote out Boehner and McConnell and put some true leadership in their places. Gowdy would be a great start.

  • Wes Boles

Trey Gowdy, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee are my hero’s

    • LeftistsStink

      Mine too!

  • Love of Country

We just transferred from South Carolina to Massachusetts…like night and day and I cannot wait to get back to SC where the majority of the citizens are like minded with Mr. Gowdy. I grew up in MA and embarrassed to be represented by the likes of Warren, Marky, Patrick …the list is practically endless – it is seriously the east coast California. Of all the states I have lived in CA was the worst as far as Government intrusion in my everyday life – received an IOU from the state the first year I filed my taxes there.

We need more like Gowdy across the government. While we all may not agree on his stances on every issue he has the gumption to stand for principle and clearly seems passionate about America. Boehner clearly has something being held over his head otherwise his actions do not make any sense. We need to get him out of there and pass the torch to someone that will actually fight for Americans. If some of you are just getting to know Trey Gowdy – look him up on youtube and you will find many more examples.

  • lainer51

He is South Carolina’s best “move to our state” slogan.
Love this guy!!!!! Maybe the current Prez could learn something from him — just sayin…….

  • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

    Trey Gowdy should run for President if KING FINK 0BAMA decides to (Once again) defy the Constitution and attempt to run for a Third term… Heck, he should just run for President Period! I think Americans (like me) are SICK AND TIRED of this Country being run like a Third-World Banana Republic DICTATORSHIP, and Trey CAN AND WILL CHANGE THAT!! Jawamax 8<{D}

  • Spinmamma

Thank God for YouTube. If it were not for the new(ish) media we would never have heard this speech. Now it is up to us to support the brave men and women who are willing to speak up–and we now have a few that are impassioned and very articulate. Bypass the RNC. (They recently sent a mass email out under John McCain’s name.) Give money directly to the organizations and campaigns of these patriots.

  • Bitter Clinger

Please God! Keep this man safe and away from any “untoward freak accidents” (see Loretta Fuddy)

      “Third-World Banana Republic DICTATORSHIP”

Really? We need to send you cons to Russia – is the Gulag still in use? You guys need to experience REAL opression. You have NO idea.

      • aliswell

The people in this country who have experienced Barry’s spiteful regime first hand certainly DO have an idea.

Those who have had their doors kicked in and guns confiscated because 20 years ago they were treated for depression; those who have been audited ~ repeatedly ~ because they DARED to challenge this despot; those who have been KILLED because they had the misfortune of being related to someone on Barry’s hit list….

Yeah, people have learned the hard way what this thugocracy is all about, and we’re done with it.

      • Republicanvet

So…America needs to experience “real oppression” before you will put down your bong and do something to stop it from getting to that point here?

Some of us choose not to wait.

      • E Quilibrate

Truly repugnant that you be dignified with the term ‘Guest’
If it were my house you’d a’ been out on your ass before
you could open your mouth and display what a fool you are.

      • CherDash

        Yeah, ask Garry Kasparov…

      • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

Seeing as how every liberal acts like they’re being oppressed, I think maybe you left-wing lunatics should be sent overseas to experience real oppression.

Every left-wing lunatic who preaches about being oppressed when they don’t have it bad at all should experience real oppression, then you won’t be so quick to make false claims.

      • TheRealJackpineSavage

If things keep going the way they have been, we won’t have to go Anywhere to experience Real Oppression. We will get to see it Up Close and in Person.

      • StateofFranklin

I can’t believe that you could be so incredibly ignorant to make such a statement.

“You guys need to experience REAL opression.”

First of all, opression has two p’s. Second, you’d probably know that if you ever stood against it. Third, no one in America should (let alone NEEDS) to experience REAL oppression. It’s specifically why AMERICA was founded and broke away from English rule, guest. It’s also why we have a constitution, bill of rights, laws and military in place…SO THAT NO ONE CAN EVER FORCE OPPRESSION ON AMERICA.

No, getting down to the meat of it… We have an oppressed economy.

Really, what we NEED, is a f’in government that will stand up for the rights of it’s citizens and protect them, LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO.

        Get a clue.

  • frozeninbemidji

Trey Gowdy’s getting quite the highlight reel. The guy’s a bulldog.

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

Question: is Gowdy a racist for using Obama’s own words against him, or is Senator Obama racist for being critical of President Obama? 😉

    • Tigerspike

“Because…shut up!” I think that’s their official position.

      • TheRealJackpineSavage

    • jukin

Obama is part black so he can NEVER be a racist. Just ask Comrade general Holder.

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

Are you just a tad miffed that you can’t criticize Gowdy without acknowledging Obama’s hypocrisy?

  • Danny Wheeler

    Go Gowdy Go!

  • capisce

Well done, sir. What’s sad is that people like Gowdy are the exception and not the rule of what our representatives should be and what they should stand for.

  • TroubleAtTheMine

The IRS will be knocking on his door tomorrow.

    • ricoliv

The IRS tends to go after low-hanging fruit that will not fight back. For this reason, they are unlikely to take on Trey Gowdy if they want to avoid a bloodbath.

  • carmenta

I pray I live long enough to see President Trey Gowdy sitting in the Oval Office! With a Congress that respects the Constitution and the will of the people as their only motivation!

Speaker of the house of eight years and then runs for president himself. Or run for senate or governor of SC and then run for president. But I think he should be speaker of the house if they would elect him.

No comparison to the current Spineless Speaker or that nitwit wannabe from San Fransicko.

    Gowdy for Speaker!

  • John Clancy

I love this guy. I hope he gets a better haircut so he can run for POTUS.

    • stellatruman

I love him too, but I suspect he wears a hair hat

  • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

That quote of Obama’s is just another example of how everything he said on the campaign trail was just a lie to sway people to vote for him. Everything he said on the campaign trail is the exact opposite of what he’s actually done as President.

  • dev

Some how some way, Trey Gowdy needs to get on the ticket. He has the spark, guts, constitutional knowledge, doesn’t back down, and of course he’s from S.C., the most polite and one of the most beautiful states ever. Thanx Rep. Gowdy. We need you!

  • ricoliv

Another good reason to watch Greta van Susteren’s show on Fox: Trey Gowdy is a frequent guest and always knocks the ball out of the park,

  • Exodus2011

Gowdy has been great on Benghazi also …

  • © Sponge

That’s a good speech. A very good speech. He should, however, save the paper so the president can wipe his butt with it later, because that’s about all that he’ll do with it.

  • jukin

Senator Obama would vote to impeach president Obama.

    • Tigerspike

We Canadians could use a good man like Trey Gowdy in leadership up here. You guys can keep Bieber…hehe..No?

Any way we can work Patricia Heaton in on the deal? We’ll surrender Celine Dion, and Pammy and da Biebs for Gowdy, Heaton and …umm…ah forget it. All of Canada for Heaton.

For all the good it did. The Corrupt-Dumba$$-M%$#ther-F#$ker-in-Chief just unilaterally changed the Fair Labor Standards Act.
