Yes, really.

Like President Obama and Eric Holder, acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller doesn’t know nuthin’ … except that the word “targeting” is beyond the pale when used to describe the agency’s targeting of conservative groups. In testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee on Friday, he called it a “loaded term” and a “pejorative.”

Video here:

Miller also claimed the IRS’ only mistake was wanting to be more efficient.

Who did the, ahem, targeting? He can’t say, but he knows the term is loaded and that’s what matters.

The IRS wasn’t targeting conservative groups? Has this guy been taking clown lessons from Jay Carney?

OK, so if Miller objects to “targeting,” what’s the acceptable term?

  • V the K

We are being asked to believe that it was just a coincidence that the actions of the IRS aligned perfectly with the political goals of the Obama campaign.

    • Lisa

No, he clarified by saying “we weren’t targeting,” but we used a litmus test….which is defined as targeting. lol *not too bright!*

      • angeleyez

        …………………. OBAMA’S . IRS . SCANDAL
Is there a culture of cover-ups and political intim-O-gation
        within the Obama administration ?
        ▲ YES
        ▼ NO

        • Elaine

We all know it’s true because why else would OBAMA call it outrageous and apologize for the intimidation? He didn’t say “IF it happened.” He said it HAPPENED!

      • grais

He also said he specifically asked (the person who should know) who ordered the targeting (the crux of the matter, essentially) but that he doesn’t remember what the answer was.

        • Elaine

Obama called it ‘outrageous’ and apologize. He said HE would get to the bottom of this, so don’t worry, Holder’s on it.

        • Lisa

and even today we learn that the one before him knows nothing because he’s been gone and Miller knows nothing because he hasn’t been there long enough! #scandalous

    • TugboatPhil

Keep in mind that these are people who believe that a community organizer, with a less than transparent personal history, living in the most politically corrupt city in America would make a great President.

    • FFlintstone

Not only the goals of Obama’s campaign, but the IRS targets were identical to the targets Obama gave in an Ohio graduation speech last week.
The Democratic questioners are trying to spin IRSGate as being a small IRS problem born of honest mistakes. Yeah, right.

    • Elaine

      “It’s not political.” SEE FOR YOURSELF! #ImpeachObama #AbuseOfPower #Tyranny #Nixonian ==>>

    • Frustrated Teacher

These are not the clowns you are looking for. Go your way quietly and nobody will get audited…

  • nc

“Hey, this stuff has worked like a charm for the past five plus years. What’s happening?”

  • Roto

Miller is just another lying Obama soldier. From the IG Report, “the IRS… was asked to search for applications with Tea Party, Patriots, or 9/12” but Miller said “I don’t believe partisanship played a role here.”
    Jesus H. Christ….

    • walterc

Baghdad Bob has a brother working at the IRS? Who knew?

    • Marvin Nelson

      An a double facepalm.

  • Clayton Grant

By Mr Miller’s logic, Gosnell’s murder of infants born alive is perjorative. After all, he just snipped their spines.

  • RightThinking1

Best Miller quote: “We provided horrible customer service.”
Oh, really? Criminal thuggery is ‘horrible service’? Who knew?

    • MyrmidoNOT

Inversely; wonder what he defines as:
      “Wonderful customer service??”

Actually his ‘actions’ were more about “customer s’port.”
      Since they really were “targeting”…
(As they ‘apparently’ hit ALL of their “targets”…)

      • SDN

Depends on which definition of “service” you use…. The one most people think is appropriate involves a San Francisco bathhouse audition….

        • MyrmidoNOT

Suspect he could get “better” service,
          in a Federal Penitentiary… 😉
(And he won’t ‘require’ a bigger budget.)

    • Grace

Ms. Ingram got over $100,000 in bonuses for overseeing employees giving horrible customer service. And that $100,000 was paid out of tax money extorted from people like us. Did she get more money depending on how much money she took from taxpayers? From a citizen standpoint, there is something really wrong with this business model.

  • TocksNedlog

Look at the screen cap on that video. Even CSPAN knows that they were ‘targeting conservative groups’!

  • CombatDiver

This is just the kick off of the Great Scandal Cover Up of 2013. Slight of hand at its best and most disgusting. Get everybody looking at your left hand or at the squirrel in the yard and then make the ball in your right hand disappear. One scandal at a time is beginning to fall and this time next month the media will have forgotten all about these incidents. It’ll be ” Ben-whatzi,” ” IRS targeting who,” “AP agrees with unlawful phone taps.”

  • TocksNedlog

Complete and utter disdain by liberals for the lives and the intelligence of the people they serve — catch the fever!

  • RightFinShark

Put the damn cuffs on these two liars……. already!!!

  • Jack Deth

So, a specific list of guidelines to create a “F*ck Over List” isn’t targeting?

In today’s, oh, so PC bureaucracy. This could also be known as “Selective Servicing”.

  • JustLikeAnimals

Looks like Miller graduate Summa cum Laude from the Obama-Carney-Holder Institute with a Ph.D. in Lies and Obfuscation.

    • auntgiddy

….khazarians are subject matter experts at lying, cheating, stealing and obfuscation…

  • catonglue

#IRSHearing Miller doesn’t want to use “targeted.” How about “ratf**ked?” As in: “We had a concerted effort to “ratf**k” the TeaParty.”

  • arttie

Question: “How many liberal groups were treated the same way? How many liberal groups were not targeted?” It should be easy to answer, none were! All liberal groups got a pass.

  • crookedwren

Okay. How about PROFILING? Would that be a more appropriate term? How abt king bo’s bro getting tax exempt in 3 wks w/ added RETROACTIVE exmptn — which NO ONE gets!

  • Gene E. Douglas

Inappropriate! If it’s not criminal it should be!

  • kateorjane

Few federal employees take a lot of undirected innovative efforts. The IRS is based on rules & regs and having documentation. No one can actually believe a small rogue group did this without approval by their supervisor

  • jfitzy55

It’s okay everyone, the IRS is here to look after you. The customer service department (the IRS has one of those apparently) will listen to your concerns. Hopefully you don’t use such pejorative terms as conservative (if you do you’ll be sent to the other department – correctional facility management for some learnin’) and embrace the newer more progressive terms.

    • JR48

      Like “felon” and “bankrupt”.

  • j p

Murderer is a pejorative term but I’m not going to stop using it for a person who kills people.

  • mcconnellboys

I’m sure it is “pejorative” in his world, which sort of begs the point of the IRS discriminating against these groups…. Why else would they see the term “targeting” as connoting negativity and conveying contempt or distaste for what they were up to? If only we all had their point of view, we would never use such language…. I’m quite sure that it will be seen as “racist,” too, before many more days have passed…. Any time a conservative thinker disagrees with a non-conservative thinker we always seem to end up being “racist” in some regard…

  • ObamaFail

Only idiot liberals will believe that this wasn’t a partisan issue. If it weren’t political targeting, liberal groups would have been rejected and held up by reviews for a long time as well. But it was only Conservative and pro-life groups, and groups that educated people on the Constitution that were targeted. No liberal groups were effected. So it was insanely partisan. The Obama administration thinks that we’re all as stupid as the people who voted for them.

  • Stephen L. Hall

Waiting for “Truth” to be classified as a pejorative term.

    • JR48

Don’t tell them that they’re lying, it makes them feel bad.

  • JR48

Ari Fleischer — “Targeting is not a pejorative term. It’s a pejorative action.”

    Boy howdy.

  • John_Sinropa

I didn’t know Dana Carvey was with the IRS now….

    • neoface

I was going to ask this person’s gender; another Sally Kohn?

      • John_Sinropa

Sarah Hall Ingram–See the Drudge page or Google her….

      • lainer51

I thought it was Sally’s twin sister and Madcow’s first cousin.

  • porgiefirefighter

Oh, for God’s sake, the groups were conservative after all. Those bitter clingers painted targets on themselves. They created a situation where it would have been rude NOT to shoot at them.

Now that we cleared that up, we can move on. Progress!!

  • capisce

The only appropriate word is “criminal”.
The pejorative comes into play when IRS employee becomes prison b—ch.

  • wbmccl

Efficiency: Estimating expected rate of false-applications and having a computer randomly select applications for review based on rate and geographic distribution.

Targeting: Singling out conservative organizations for intrusive and over-the-top reviews.

  • BAW

He is a good leftie. Any time you say something that accurately describes their views or actions, they call it a pejorative.

  • Adrian Vance

Why can these people never address the facts? They only whine? That is what they are very good at.

See The Two Minute Conservative via Google or: When you speak ladies will swoon and liberal gentlemen will weep.

    • Frank DiSalle

“Why can these people never address the facts? They only whine? That is what they are very good at.”

      Because it works…

  • neoface

I wonder how many people at the hearing had to look up the meaning of the word “pejorative”? Someone should have asked him to define the word and use it in another sentence. LOL!!!

  • Mark Davis

If “targeting” is such a loaded word for the #IRS, then let’s use a couple of words you can understand. “Profiling” and “Hatch Act”.

  • bo1921

I bet there’s millions of people who’d like to show this cretin some “pejorative.”

  • Jeremy

This guy is a lying weasel.

  • Guest

    When Gabby Giffords was shot,
the term “targeting” was on the lips of all the Comrades.
Now, there has apparently been a revision in their predictable drivel.

  • Burgermeister Meisterburger

Steven Miller will have plenty of time to flesh out the nuances of the word “targeting” when he begins his stint in federal prison. I suspect that corrupt IRS officials are on the lower end of the prison food chain.

    • Grace

I was amazed at Miller’s nonchalant and arrogant attitude…he seemed to be saying “I’m so bored, why do I have to be here talking to you stupid Congressmen?” He looked like he was ready to fall asleep. Maybe it will take some time in prison to wake him up.

  • Burgermeister Meisterburger

We lost the country when we lost the language. The use of euphamism is so pervasive, especially in the culture of Washington that ensures a corruption of the truth. The long road to reclaiming our feedoms begins with reclaiming our language.
The IRS illegally TARGETED persons and organizations for scrutiny based on their political leanings. No euphamism should be allowed to obscure that fact.

  • Grace

“Big sack of crap” is also a pejorative term, but if the shoe fits…

  • MissDiane47

Dear Mr. Miller … You LIE!!!

  • WWMD

You have suddenly a huge influx of groups claiming tax exempt status which oddly enough the goal is promoting less taxation, and the IRS exams them with a little scrutiny. Not one person here can say of those were all left leaning groups similar to all the ones investigated by bush administration after start of war, and other groups specifically targeted, and the silence was deafening. If you are forming a group that raises money and expects to pay no taxes from it so sorry you are too busy for a few extra questions. Also not ONE person or group got denied exempt status. I read several years ago. BEFORE election about the need to look into tax exempt organizations especially churches conducting purely political work that is definitely against the law. They were doing their job but in the choice of efficiently doing it this way is being called scandal
