A common symptom of Palin Derangement Syndrome is the humiliating tendency to fall for smack-you-in-the-face-obvious parodies. If it’s too good to be true, it’s news! Exhibit 13,982: The Washington Post’s Suzi Parker.

https://twitter.com/postpolitics/status/301330638676557825

Writing at the Post’s “She The People” blog, Parker sneered:

The Sarah Palin Story is a cautionary tale about what can happen when politics and celebrity meet.

Late last week Al Jazeera America announced the former vice-presidential candidate would be joining their news network.

“As you all know, I’m not a big fan of newspapers, journalists, news anchors and the liberal media in general,” Palin told the Web site The Daily Currant. “But I met with the folks at Al-Jazeera and they told me they reach millions of devoutly religious people who don’t watch CBS or CNN. That tells me they don’t have a liberal bias.”

Here’s a snippet from the “About” page of Parker’s source, The Daily Currant:

Q. Are your newstories real?

A. No. Our stories are purely fictional. However they are meant to address real-world issues through satire and often refer and link to real events happening in the world

After Twitter started buzzing about Parker’s flub, the Post quickly scrubbed the article of any reference to the Daily Currant.

The Post issued this correction: “An earlier version of this post incorrectly reported that Sarah Palin planned to contribute to the Al Jazeera America news network.”

Whoops!

Update:

Suzi Parker: “Journalist.”

suzi-parker

Update:

The “correction” has been revised.

An earlier version of this post incorrectly reported that Sarah Palin had signed on as a contributor to the Al Jazeera America news network. The blogger cited a report on the Daily Currant Web site as the basis for that information without realizing that the piece was satirical.

Update: WaPo finally tweets a correction. LOL:

This is known as “too good to check”. The Left just KNOWS certain things, you see. They don’t have to check whether Palin actually said the “quotes” from the parody, because the Palin that lives in their heads sounds exactly like that (but she looks a little more like Tina Fey).

    • http://twitter.com/equaltreatment Elaine

Well, she did check with SNOPES. haha

  • FreedomFighter

These liberal snots are just chomping at the bit to run a story about Sarah Palin even if the story is fake. Its rather comical to see liberals get in a thick lather over someone mentioning her name. I sure hope she gets back into politics. She doesn’t even have to do anything to make the liberal media look like fools….lol

  • RightThinking1

“Sarah Palin offers a cautionary political tale.”
Interesting….., that’s precisely what I thought about Al Gore.

Who actually DID do business with Al Jazeera … to the tune of millions of dollars … in a deal timed to avoid Obama taxes ..

D’ja think Suzi Parker knows anything, anything at all, about that deal?

The phrase “intentionally ignorant” comes to mind.

I’m no longer believing that the MFM keeps “falling for” these satire pieces.

These “satire” pieces are just more Commie propaganda. They are being put up deliberately so the MFM can pretend to be fooled. Meanwhile, the damage to the target is done. No one reads retractions, in the rare cases when there are retractions.

Notice how the MFM only “falls for” satire pieces that harm Republicans.

    • $30423294

True, but I get the feeling these children weren’t prepared for the power of twitter to shame them. Lefties don’t quite get twitter yet.

If you watch how these public shamings play out in a 24 to 48 hour cycle, the cycle goes like this:

      Phase 1. the perpetrator ignores
Phase 2. the perpetrator lashes out passive aggressively
Phase 3. the perpetrator lashes out explicitly
Phase 4. the perpetrator writes an insincere non-apology
Phase 5. the perpetrator admits wrong
Phase 6. the perpetrator calls everybody racist

Occasionally there is the bonus phase where the perpetrator’s employer distances themselves from the perpetrator. These are delicious moments to savor.

Watch and see. We’re still in the ignore phase with this precious little lamb.

  • spot_the_dog

MSM falls for another ridiculous piece of satire. But it’s /Sarah Palin/ who’s allegedly stupid, right guys?

How can we help these people?

    Allow me a metaphor.

Let’s say the state run media racked up 20 DWI’s and they still don’t get they have a problem. They are no longer asking questions. Having advanced into the later stages of their disorder, they aren’t even asking basic questions, like “is it true?”

State run media: seriously, get help.

  • otaycec

I don’t see any difference between the Daily Currant and NBC, CBS, ABC or PBS. At least the Daily Currant doesn’t hide the fact that they are satirical.

    • TocksNedlog

The Daily Currant laughs at people in the news.
The major networks laugh at their viewers.

The real problem here is that many of the idiots that voted for the carnival huckster have no clue what satire means.
