Lochte’s mother, Ileana, divulged some of the details of the incident, which her son conveyed to her. Here are her comments via USA Today:
“I think they’re all shaken up. There were a few of them,” Ileana Lochte said. “No, they were just, they just took their wallets and basically that was it.”
Ileana Lochte said her son had his wallet taken but that was it. He notified her via text message afterward.
The United States Olympic Committee also confirmed that the altercation took place and that the athletes were unharmed.

But the International Olympic Committee says it never happened.

So Ryan Lochte's mom and he USOC confirm he was held up at gunpoint, but the IOC says it's "absolutely not true" ? Bizarre.

Bizarre is right.
Despite what IOC said, knew what Lochte's mom told @RachelAxon was right. You don't lie to your mom about things like that.

Lessons learned from Ryan Lochte today:
1) Trust mom
2) Rio is dangerous— Nicole Auerbach (@NicoleAuerbach) August 14, 2016
Lesson of the developing Lochte story thus far: listen to Mom.

This is the same IOC that had the bright idea of holding these games in Rio.
