Newsweek’s website experienced some technical difficulties yesterday after publishing reporter Kurt Eichenwald’s story accusing Donald Trump of violating the Cuba embargo, forcing the magazine to publish their articles on Tumblr instead:
Since our site is temporarily down, we're going to RT some of the coverage we've gotten on our latest cover story, #TrumpInCuba.
— Newsweek (@Newsweek) September 29, 2016
Our site is temporarily down, but you can read @kurteichenwald's full cover story on @tumblr. https://t.co/sIAK7RzAJI #TrumpInCuba

Newsweek blamed the problem on hackers:
Newsweek suspects hackers crashed website because of negative Trump article https://t.co/ZbtZAWPRMC | AP Photo pic.twitter.com/ijrmMByoR6

And on Friday, Eichewald wrote that hack was traced back to IP addresses in Russia, among other unidentified countries:
Update on hacker attack on @Newsweek aftr story posted on Trump breaking Cuba embargo. Lots of IP addresses involved; main ones are Russian.

To make clear: @Newsweek posted story on Trump/Cuba. Hackers attacked, took site down. Lots of IP addresses involved. Main ones from Russia.
