As we reported earlier, Secretary of Health & Human Services Kathleen Sebelius is resigning.’s Ezra Klein, formerly of the Washington Post, tweeted that Sebelius stepping down is a sign that Obamacare has achieved true awesomeness:

Ha! Once a lapdoggie, always a lapdoggie.

Fox News’ Brit Hume was amazed:

And others piled on Klein’s unintentional comedy bit, rightly so:

Forget about Colbert, this guy’s funny:

Now there’s a great idea!

What she ACTUALLY said & meant:
“I’m resigning because Obamacare has ONE!” . . . as in PAID enrollee!-)

    • snakebit

But they’ve defined success only in terms of enrollment (and fudged the numbers to meet a bar that was set mighty low) and declared victory. It won’t fall under it’s own weight because the government can simply hide the losses indefinitely. How much attention do people pay to the unfunded liabilities of Social Security and Medicare? Obamacare will just become another line item quietly adding massive sums to the national debt every year. Until the house of cards collapses it’s out of sight, out of mind.

That way people won’t have to pay ridiculous amounts of money for piss-poor plans that operate on a such glitchy system that even Obama refuses to enact fully (at least during an election year).

        • USMC

WHat of the millions who lost it? You must be one of those the ends justifies the means people

        • Acethepug

A net gain of less than a million, but nice try.

Over 6 million lost their insurance. Allegedly 7.5 million (now, although how they got 400k more after the deadline rates right up there with typical Democratic fraud) signed up.

Since many of these people getting “affordable” (a lie) and “quality” (another lie) health INSURANCE (not care, you should damn well know better than this) are on Medicaid and NOT an actual policy from Obamacare, and still others have not paid a cent yet, the net gain is less than a million, even using the Administration’s numbers.

So, Obama and the Dems destroyed the health insurance industry allegedly to help approximately 30-40 million uninsured, and got less than TWO PERCENT of them insured at tremendous economic cost.

And this is considered anything other than complete and total failure? Only in Obama’s America could this be considered a win.

Wow, heckova job, Bammy. Heckova job.

          • Barbara Stefano

They didn’t even get THAT much of a net gain. Some of the enrollees were the people who lost their insurance from OCare in the first place. I think this abysmally deficient program is actually in the hole.

So millions of people have a shiny new card and can’t find a doctor or hospital that will take it. You need to pull your head out of the sand and take a look around at what this ‘so called law’ is doing to our country. Yes there were people without insurance, just as there will be under Ocare because people cannot afford the premiums, the deductibles or both. That did not mean they weren’t getting health care. The same people will be lining up at the emergency room when they have a cold.

I’m commenting on the non sequitur logic of your statement that her resignation is a red flag for something wrong with Obamacare. There are other reasons that could be just as true and probably make more sense. For example, her job performance was not stellar…and it wasn’t. My career was in the computer software industry and believe me I saw a lot of those in charge being dismissed even though a project completed, their job performance impeded the timeframe or made it more difficult for the project to be completed.

    He’s right–Obamacare HAS won.

Oh, I don’t mean that it’s got people insured, because it’s obviously resulted in less people insured. And I don’t mean that it’s going to help people, because we all know it won’t. And I certainly don’t mean that it’s going to be cost-effective like Obama and his cronies kept swearing it was, because the costs are going to be astronomical.

However… those were never the goals of Obamacare.

Obamacare’s goals were to destroy the real insurance industry, leave millions more people dependent on the government, use the threat of government violence to force Christians to spit in God’s face, funnel more of our money to Obama’s friends and political allies, and vastly increase the power of government to interfere with our daily lives.

And I’m quite sad to say that Obamacare has succeeded in all of those goals…. Obamacare has won.

Sebelius can retire, and go back to her old job of destroying evidence to help Planned Parenthood cover up for child-rapists.

    • Bill Corish – Linden, VA

I agree. Particularly with your statement that one of it’s goals was to “vastly increase the power of government to interfere with our daily lives.” We now have a Supreme Court decision enabling the government to do just that. The court opinion is lengthy for a disqus post, so I provide the cliff notes version here:

Chief Justice Roberts stated the Government’s theory that our Constitution’s commerce clause authorizes Congress to order us to buy health insurance would also authorize them to “address the diet problem by ordering everyone to buy vegetables.” He went on to say “Under the Government’s logic, that authorizes Congress to use its commerce power to compel citizens to act as the Government would have them act. That is not the country the Framers of our Constitution envisioned.”

(As one who chooses not to buy health insurance, I’m thinking “Right on, Judge Roberts! You actually understand that bit in the Preamble about ‘the Blessings of Liberty’.”)

But then he turned all that eloquence and sensibility into a moot point, arguing that the Founders actually did envision a country where Congress could order us to buy vegetables, and health insurance, and otherwise compel our behavior. Just as long as everyone understands Congress was actually using their taxing power, not their commerce power.

But that’s not all. In their legislation, the Democrats never had to actually use the word “tax”. This worked well for them, since it would be a new tax that will be paid by a substantial number of the President’s beloved middle class. People like my wife and I. No, the Democrats got to call it a “penalty” that will keep folks like me from being tempted to freeload on society should we get really sick. Turns out the Democrats could rely on the Supreme Court reading their minds and knowing they really meant it as a tax, even though they called it a penalty.

Please define this “gaining” please. Does it mean signed up and paid for? Oh, right- the fake numbers can be determined down to “7.1 million”, but surprise surprise the obamacide software can’t determine how many people have actually paid a premium. How very…. curious.

Does this fake figure net out medicaid enrollees, does it net out those from the 6 million that LOST their policies (despite soetero’s assurances to the contrary) that signed up for crappier more expensive insurance?

If you remember things went well with the “Trickle Down Economics” until we got a stupid liberal SOB in office Bubba Clinton I know there was a Bush in before Clinton. I know in that liberal brain (very small) you have you’re going to point out Clinton left office with a surplus. Obama’s America in a few short sentences,

A black kid asks his mother, “What’s a democracy?”

“Well, son, that’s when white folks work every day so we can get all our benefits, you know like free cell phones for each family member, rent subsidy, food stamps,WIC, free healthcare, utility subsidy, and so on”.

“But mama, don’t the white people get mad about that?

“Sure they do, that’s called racism!”

    • Linda

Hyperbole. The free cell phone program was in place LONG before Obama took office and, no, not each member of a family gets one. I don’t mind so much the hyperbole in your comments but I hate when there is a flat out lie is being made.

      • Jake Bradford

Obama greatly expanded the existing programs.

        • Linda

          Oh, how so? From

“Taxpayers do pay for coverage but not via federal income taxes. Instead, the Act “mandated the creation of the universal service fund (USF) into which all telecommunications providers are required to contribute a percentage of their interstate and international end-user telecommunications revenues.” So that little fee on your phone bill labeled USF? That’s what you’re paying for.

          • Linda

And, each state administers the program.

          • SWohio

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) on Monday called for criminal charges to be filed against people who defrauded a federal phone subsidy program.

Because welfare eligibility has expanded under the Obama administration, more people than ever before are qualified to receive “free” cell-phone service — Obamaphones.

There have been news reports about recipients flaunting dozens of subsidized phones. The Wall Street Journal reported on an FCC audit of the top five Lifeline providers, which found that “41% of their more than six million subscribers either couldn’t demonstrate their eligibility or didn’t respond to requests for certification.”

          • Linda

First, that is a stretch to make it sound like it’s OK for the phones to be called Obamaphones because welfare eligibility was extended. That’s an illogical connection. If the eligibility were restricted in the future, then would they be called NON-Obamaphones? You’re letting your dislike of him cloud the issue, trying to make the original posters comment “right.”

Yes, I’m aware that there has been fraud in the program…where is there not fraud, really. It’s sad…no matter what, there are always going to be people who find a way to rip it off. They should be prosecuted for it.

One last comment: this program is not funded by federal tax dollars, but the fee the rest of us pay on our phone bills. Again, it’s a non sequitor to claim that they are Obamaphones.

          • Stephen L. Hall #NonquamTrump

Perhaps you ought to inform this lady that it is not an Obamaphone:

          • Linda

            I would if I could.

          • KhadijahMuhammad

“You’re letting your dislike of him cloud the issue…”

Probably so. It does indeed annoy us when an individual wants to “win” a major policy so badly that he lies through his teeth to get it done.

It also piques us that so many Democrats are willing to accept so much corruption to “win” policy issues. Used to be that all Americans detested corruption. Now, we have these things called “progressives” who embrace it willingly.

          • tedlv

How about the obvious, documented corruption in the election process? And one multiple voter was prosecuted, released early, and welcomed like a hero by Sharpton. Hmmm. “I wanet ta make sure mah vote counted, so I voted six tams.” Heard that with my own ears.

          • KhadijahMuhammad

            Hang him high, I’d say.

          • Linda

And, what does any of that have to do with the topic that was being discussed?

          • KhadijahMuhammad

YOU were the one you suggested that our feelings about the issue were clouded by our dislike of Obama.

I agree. This man has been so destructive to our nation that we can’t help but dislike him. Thus, we react strongly on anything he screws up.

            Hope that helps.

          • Linda

OK, I think I see your point…you were talking about how the feelings affect your perceptions and I was talking about how those affected perceptions in turn affected the poster’s ability to make a logical argument in a debate.

          • KhadijahMuhammad

Well, we agree there too. No question that strong emotions are the enemy of reason, and it’s an affliction that both “sides” suffer from.

          • tedlv

That fee is a de facto tax.

          • Linda

OK…the point IS that people complaining about “Obamaphones” think that the funds are coming from FEDERAL tax. You’re right that the fee on phone bills is a de facto tax, but that is irrelevant.

          • tedlv

If it’s so “little”, you pay mine.

          • Linda

I wasn’t the one who said little…that is QUOTED material from the Forbes article. Geez.

        • tedlv

It doesn’t matter that Obama has made many of Bush’s mistakes infinitely worse. Bush was responsible to start with, which gives Obama free rein.

          • Linda

Huh, no, the program goes back to Reagen. Did you object then…or through any subseqent presidents?

      • Truth Gun

I never said the program originated under Obama.

        • Linda
