The mayor of Charlotte, N.C., Patrick Cannon, has been arrested on corruption charges. The fact that Cannon is a Democrat seems to be a piece of information that some media outlets don’t seem to think their readers need to know, and it’s truly amazing:

Who is up for another game of “name that party”?

The mayor of indeterminate party affiliation faces fines of $1.5 million and up to 50 years in prison.

  • AwakenNow

Four DEMOCRATS arrested or under investigation this week: State Sen. Leland Yee – California; State House Speaker, Gordon Fox, Providence, RI; Mayor Patrick Cannon, Charlotte, NC; and Democratic Assemblyman, Bill Scarborough, Queens, NY.

    • WhoMeToo

Couldn’t happen to a nicer political party. >:^)

      • conservativechick

I’m surprised the way Democrats have been digging for dirt on Republicans. Maybe it backfired? I saw another story out of CA about Dem Sen. Leland Yee, one of 3 Democrats facing criminal charges.

        • CHHR

let not us forget all those local folks that “negotiated” multi-million dollar packages… no, can’t remember that either, why it’s unthinkable to call a democrat a democrat… or is that supposed to be a spade a spade..

a friend in Charlotte posted this earlier today – first thought ‘hm, not party affiliation SCREAMS that he’s a D’…because obviously only R’s ever do anything wrong/

    • conservativechick

Just file these under stories you won’t hear much about….

    • TomJB

Well to be fair, what are the odds a state senator from Cali being republican if there aren’t any?

  • jwmiller

Love when Enemedia omits Party affiliation. Numbnuts still think no one paying attn.

  • mickeyco

The amazing part is that there are 3 law agencies, organizations in the U.S. willing to investigate or actually (gasp) arrest Democrat office holders.

    • mrspinky85

I was surprised by this too. It seems strange. Like they going to use it as away to seem like they’re cleaning house.

    • Jay Stevens

Amazing that Obama’s DoJ’s FBI is one of them.

    Maybe we need a couple new categories for the illustrious Dems, (D); D-NYC {Not yet convicted}: & (D)AG {assumed guilty}.

    • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Trust me, that Dem mayor in NYC will be convicted of something, sooner or later. A full-tilt Commie like him eventually ends up doing something that pisses off the garden-variety crooks, and he’ll be out on his ass. They’re probably figuring out right now what they can “Trump” up against him, if you catch my drift…

  • Stephen L. Hall #NonquamTrump

That unnamed party sure seems to have a lot of criminals. Kind of reminds me of H.P. Lovecraft’s “He Who Must Not Be Named.” (Okay, for you young whipper-snappers you can substitute J.K. Rowling.)

  • John

Oddly enough, him being a Democrat is only half of it. Just sayin.

  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

They don’t even have the fig leaf excuse of “non-partisan elections” to avoid the issue, as in some cities. Charlotte elects its “Charlatans” on a party basis– he ran on, and was elected on, the Democratic ticket.

  • Ed McDowell

If he’s a person of color that’s two things the public won’t hear about.

“Name that Party” is way too easy. If the crook is conservative, you can expect to see the word “Republican” in each and every sentence of the article.

  • Sam701

This is why NC is now officially a red state. I know because I live here.

Another guy voted in on race alone. It was known 4 years ago that he took donations that were a conflict of interest, did people think it stopped there?

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

Frankly, I’m surprised the media hasn’t tried calling Cannon a Republican.

  • Keith

Cant wait to see the lunatics at MSNBC get a hold of this…lol

    • H50 ✓RAT

Nah, they will just ignore it like they usually do.

  • H50 ✓RAT

Ive noticed the ‘when a dem is arrested/scandalized you must not mention the dem party ‘ rule, but noticed they always to for Rs for years now.

Good to call them on it tho, must be done every time.

    • Patches O’Houlihan

My understanding is that in the media bidness, the practice of not identifying democrat party affiliation in a negative story, is know as: Dropping the “D”…

It’s willfully intentional and as a result, my heart warms a little, each time another left leaning news paper / media organization crumbles…

      • H50 ✓RAT

Sounds about right. Even one of my liberal friends mentioned that she noticed the dropping the D thingy.
They are slowly but surely hoisting themselves by their own petards. Couldnt happen to a nicer bunch.

  • LegalizeShemp

Yes it’s that old lamestream media trick, the Democrat Party can only be mentioned in regards to helping people, humanitarianism and all around coolness and good will. The Republicans are mentioned in regards to mean, greedy, rapacious business practices, obstructionism, scandal, and of course the old standbys of racism, sexism and homophobia. That’s how the Goebbels descendants in the media operate.

  • Kristine ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Maybe the locals know which party he belongs to?

Are national outlets not mentioning party affiliation as well?

    • H50 ✓RAT

All forms of media, TV, radio and internet drop the D. Local story or not.
Republican party affiliation is always mentioned when the report is negative. Local story or not.

      • Kristine ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

I only saw mention of local outlets mentioned in the above tweets, though I might have missed one. I saw the reference to Huffington Post so I clicked on their story and they do mention that he’s a Democrat.

I guess I’d just like to see a story from say, CNN, missing the political party.

Thinking about it, I can’t recall if the Arizona Republic always mentions the Gov’s political affiliation when doing an article, in fact I don’t think they do. Not lately anyway.

        • H50 ✓RAT

Doesn’t take much research to verify, if its mentioned at all its buried deep in the story. Look and see, listen and hear is my motto.

          • Kristine ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

And so far, it’s only local.

          • H50 ✓RAT

And yet Bridge-gate was a national story. Go figure.

Wow that makes 3 California DEMOCRAT State Senators either convicted of / or under investigation for fraud in the last few months. Sen. Yee (D), Sen. Calderon(D), Sen. Wright (D). Funny they are all Democrats and none of them are white. Haha. Oh but its Republicans who are corrupt greedy old white guys. Funny thing, after Wright was convicted, Sen. Pro Tem Slimeberg still allowed him to serve and collect pay. Democrats only have themselves and the media to blame. These guys are corrupt because no one holds them accountable.

  • mrspinky85

They are literally giving the right November. I’m praying they don’t mess this up.

  • RanierWest

I feel like this is a story about undetermined race of someone* doing the knockout game

  • /sarcnado ☠

Well, I notice the Charlotte Observer article DID mention this:

“Cannon and McCrory talked for about an hour Wednesday, right before
Cannon went to his appointment with the agents. They talked about the
ongoing airport commission saga, said McCrory, a Republican who helped
Cannon’s star rise in Charlotte politics. Cannon was the longest-serving
elected official in Charlotte, having joined the City Council in 1993.
(He was out of office from 2005 to 2009.)”

So you see, as one of the comments on the article so astutely observes, it was the Republicans’ fault after all! (/sarc, just in case).

    more here:

I think the party affiliation of these criminal pols can be safely assumed.
