The successful grass-roots recall efforts in Colorado yesterday cost gun control advocates politically, but as MSNBC host Ari Melber demonstrated, the vote did not cost them the ability to misidentify what they are all about.

“Gun safety advocates”? Nice try:

“Orwelladorable”? Ha!

And to the “gun safety advocates,” what kind of gun is safer than one you can’t touch?

Two final reminders:

Does Melber want to know who are the absolute worst “gun safety advocates”? Gun safety advocates!

Nice try: MSNBC host calls Detroit ‘America’s most libertarian city’

  • John Alvarado

I thought gun safety means I possess firearm, I keep firearm away from children, I discharge firearm only when needed. Oh MSNBC, you guys really need to read a dictionary more often.

    • Masmani

John, Don’t you know the terms “rabid gun haters “and “gun safety advocates” are interchangeable in Ari’s mind?

      • John Alvarado

Oh DUH!! I forgot MSNBC hires one track minded people. Their Liberals have no sense of reasoning and think an object is bad when it is the person wielding the object that makes it a danger.

    • MyrmidoNOT

Reading (and comprehension) aren’t their strong suits…
      prognosticating and lecturing are.

Apparently…they have not ‘handled’ sufficient tools…
to know the difference. Dictionary included. 😉

      • John Alvarado

Don’t worry Liberals will probably change gun safety to their definition in the AP handbook.

        • chewydog

Changing global warming to climate change wasn’t questioned, so gun control to gun safety shouldn’t be a problem.

  • IceColdTroll

“Ari Melber weeps for ‘gun safety advocates.’ “

    • Kimihiro Watanuki

I’ve been well feed all day! It’s been a wonderful day!

    • Elaine

      Gun safety advocates… liberal speak.

  • CatHerder

Gun safety advocates never lose, we have Eddie the eagle to carry our banner.

    “Truly a doubleplus ungood night.”

Wow…The douchebaggery is strong in this one.

    • RblDiver

Are you referring to the guy who posted the doubleplus bit, or who he was aiming it at? I read his comment as mocking MSNBC.

      • chewydog

I was referring to the doubleplus poster. However, after clicking his avatar and reading numerous tweets, you probably are right. The snark could have been stronger in this one…
My douchebaggery comment stands as far as Ari Metrosexual is concerned.

        • Mister A

          It’s an Orwell reference…

  • JeffWRidge

That’s like calling someone who wants to limit your access to spare tires and tire jacks, a car safety advocate.

    • waltermitty2012

Or, a boat safety advocate who wants to take your boat away.

    • Texan357

      Excellent analogy!

  • Bemani Dog

“Orwelladorable”, huh? That’s the kind of newspeak I can get behind.

    • TugboatPhil #FreePaulieWalnuts

Different topic, but when the American Pork Council was looking to replace their old slogan, “Pork – The Other White Meat”, I sent them my suggestion. Sadly it was not chosen.

      “Pork – It’s Infidel-icious!”

      • J. Cox

        Now that funny,thanks.

  • Maxx

“Politically, the Colorado vote will haunt gun safety advocates for a long time.” @AriMelber

It will haunt criminals much more you gun grabbing moron. The people have spoken. Liberals despise democracy when it doesn’t work in their favor. That pesky “majority thing.”

(Edit) I was trying to come up with a smart GUN SAFETY COURSE 2, but the humor force is weak in me today. :(

    What a maroon!

  • Spasmolytic

He’s just angry because MSNBC wasn’t able to influence the recall.

  • Jeff Maxey

Gun safety means I point it away from me.

  • Dave

What an idiot. No one is against gun safety. I’m a lifelong NRA member and I teach gun safety classes twice a month. I strongly advocate gun safety. What has everyone upset is the usurpation of the Second Amendment by the Left. But, I bet Mr. Melber already knew that.

    • Garth Haycock

It’s highly doubtful that he knows that. Regressives believe that the gun in and of itself is dangerous.

  • Morneau_for_4

I’m a gun safety advocate. I lock up my Ruger LC380, Glock 23 and my S&W M&P 9c when I decide to carry my Sig Sauer P938.

  • therealguyfaux

I’ll even be generous and not chide his misuse of phraseology, but rather, ask him instead: Do tell, Mr Melber– do you think the results of last night ought NOT to haunt your side? Good heavens, I hope you ARE haunted– by the thought that your side can’t get its way just because you want to, and by the fact that good honest decent people told you and yours to go s#!t in your hats.

  • arttie

Woman pushes husband off cliff in Glacier National Park and to his death. Lets register all cliffs and see to it that cliffs are no higher than a hill in Kansas.

    • Corey Dennison

      Ban assault-cliffs!

      • arttie

Evacuate the Great State of Colorado. There are too many precipices for safe habitation.

  • Michael Rice

This vote will haunt those who feel “restrained” by the Constitution for a long time.

  • TocksNedlog

I, Tocks Nedlog, am especially proud to be a gun safety advocate!

I strongly advocate that when — but only when! — the situation warrants it, that you release the safety on your gun so that you are prepared to use it if need be.

    • Garth Haycock

If it is deemed necessary to use your gun, only shoot the bad guy. Then switch the safety back to the on position.

  • cmerlo1

    This was fun!

  • Medicinewoman2

MSNBC is battling it out for Americas stupid example against Obama.

  • AmericanMom

Gun control is not the issue Ari, it’s “journalism” gone bad that’s screwing up the nation. Too many morons reading and listening to it and too many moronic “journalists” who are completely unable to report news honestly and without editorial “help” from networks and political parties.

  • Ranba_Ral

On the gun safety at a “gun safety” event, I seem to recall Dianne Feinstein wielding AK’s at audience and staffers, with finger in the trigger well, while talking about how they’re so dangerous they need to be banned…

  • ChampionCapua

Re-called politicians haunted for thwarting the will of the people? Isn’t that how it’s supposed to work?

  • bo1921

“gun saftey advocate,” says the leftist dissembler.
