Mother Jones editor: 'Serial mob inciter' Adam Baldwin quits Twitter

As Twitchy reported Saturday, Twitter suspended the account of Robert Stacy McCain (@RSMcCain), a conservative blogger with more than 80,000 followers. Those followers managed to get the #FreeStacy hashtag trending overnight, but discovered that Twitter would not allow the hashtag to autocomplete, like most trending topics. Was this a case of Twitter suspending a member for tweeting while conservative?

McCain did have another Twitter handle, @SexTroubleBook, from which he tweeted his understanding of his suspension: “There has been no explanation. — RSM.” And then that second account was suspended as well.

Many conservatives are either disabling their accounts in protest or just not tweeting anymore until Twitter restores McCain’s account or demonstrates where McCain violated Twitter’s terms of service.

Clara Jeffery, editor-in-chief of Mother Jones, singled out actor Adam Baldwin as a “serial mob inciter.”

Baldwin told the Independent Journal Review that he’s had enough of Twitter, and that the “Orwellian, so-called Safety Council is really killing the wild west of ideas that Twitter was.” He added, “I’m going to find greener pastures elsewhere and I’m not coming back.”

Nowhere did the Independent Journal Review call Baldwin a “serial mob inciter” — that’s Jeffery’s own creation and one apparently shared by the social justice warriors pulling the strings at Twitter. In the meantime, mob inciter Baldwin explained that free speech is what made Twitter fun: “You could run across all sorts of differing viewpoints. That is what free speech is all about. As long as you’re not threatening people with violence, have at it.”

As far as we know, Baldwin has never incited a single mob — a serious charge. Maybe Twitter should consider suspending Jeffery and Mother Jones.
