Witnesses say driver of pickup struck multiple victims in DC neighborhood; Officers down; Update: Two in custody

Police just raced to the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, D.C., where multiple witnesses are describing a hit-and-run incident involving a pickup truck and multiple victims, including at least one police officer, perhaps two.

NBC Washington reports:

One officer is in critical condition and another officer is seriously hurt after being struck by a vehicle in D.C.’s Adams Morgan neighborhood, fire officials say.

The officers were riding bicycles near 18th Street and Columbia Road NW when they were struck, police said. They have been transported to a local hospital.

At least two other people were also hurt, fire officials said. It is not clear if they were pedestrians or riding bicycles.

D.C. police said a person has been taken into custody.
