WSVN in Miami is reporting that several people were shot and grazed by bullets at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park in Northwest Miami-Dade.

WSVN reports that its news crew was on the scene as the shots rang out and “saw displaced children crying after losing their parents when a stampede of attendees ran away from the scene in search of safety. Many police officers were seen carrying small children away from the scene.”

The shooting in Miami was followed soon after by another incident, this one fatal, involving a man reportedly firing into a crowd celebrating the holiday in Hallandale Beach, Fla. The suspect is in custody and cooperating, according to police.

Police have not yet released a motive in either incident.
