Johnny “Football” Manziel was finally picked up by the Cleveland Browns in the 22nd pick Thursday night, but not before he inspired a couple of hashtags, including #SadManziel and #BeforeManzielGetsDrafted.

It only seemed like forever before Manziel was drafted.

Not true!

Johnny went in the first round of the NFL draft. Meanwhile a nation of Twitter athletes are on the sofa with a hand dug into their Doritos.

I bet they really blew their top when he said “God has a plan for me.”

    • Glorious_Cause

Cleveland?? Bwahahahahaha! Should have stayed in school, son.

      • $7610427

Yes, Glorious. I’m sure he wishes he was still in College Station…as he cashes his checks from Nike.

      • Independentview

Which NFL team drafted you ?

    • CVN65

      I do like doritos…

    • Shelby is a Patriot

      He’s still a douchebag.

  • WhoDat
    • Zach Brewer

      Harsh … but accurate.

    • Independentview

The guy is 21 and already more successful than you are ever going to be. I would say he pities you but he is far to busy being a success to ever think about you.

      • nukedtuna

Success is not measured by paychecks and prowess, but by the heart for service. Johnny Manziel is young, rich, and stupid.

        • Independentview

Google “Johnny Manziel charity”. The man has a heart for service it just doesn’t get put on ESPN.

          • nukedtuna

So, he played golf with a kid and hosted 1 charity fashion show. Awesome. What a giver.

          • CVN65

Using your fame to get others to engage in actual charity isn’t really doing much.

      • QueenB

I get what you’re saying here, but we’re talking Cleveland.

  • http://www.saundersreport.com Rachel

I was having nightmares that he was going to go to the Cowboys.

    • WhoDat

My two year old niece has a better arm than Romo.

      • Orwellian_Dilemma

Your two year-old niece is more likely to win a Super Bowl than Tony Romo.

        • Zach Brewer

          Oh snap!

      • QueenB

Can she come play for the Bears?

        • Donald-Now2x/Sarc-w/0calories

          The Detroit Lions?

      • CVN65

Stop. We all want Tony to stay exactly where he is, doing exactly what he has always done. EAGLES!

    • Orwellian_Dilemma

It was funny watching the cowboys use the sixteenth pick to choose late third-round bench talent in order to prove they haven’t overpaid Tony Romo who would get a sixth round pick and two CRT computer monitors in a trade. . . .

  • Peyton

Now Johnny gets to take the Brown’s to the Super Bowl, frequently.

    • WhoDat

The only way the Browns see the Super Bowl is from the stands.

      • Maxx

Just like 30 other teams. Nonetheless, He’ll do fine. Those endorsement deals are going to make him some serious scratch. Kids and fans can relate to a guy nipping at six-feet.

Nobody buys shoes because of an offensive lineman.

    • Shelby is a Patriot

      Thanks for the laugh.

  • MrNewCastrati

Good ol’ Cleveland Browns, the graveyard of quarterbacks.

    • Finrod Felagund

Yep. Now he gets to look forward to being ground into the turf six times a year by the defense of Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Cincinnati. Apparently Cleveland has started 20 different quarterbacks over the last 15 years.

    • Frustrated Teacher

At least there is a low ceiling for QB excellence there. Johnny should top that easily. It will be interesting to see what the kid makes of his opportunity and going at 22 may help him with a little humility…

  • Danny Wheeler

It’ll be a cold day in hell #BeforeManzielGetsDrafted.

  • LegalizeShemp

MSNBC will stop race baiting and garner top ratings in primetime cable TV.

  • Ghee!

If you understand the draft, he wasn’t passed on by more than 2-3 teams. Other teams went after need. Johnny will do fine in Cleveland, they have a good coach for him there.

  • Melvin Hagerman

    Looks like hell froze over….

  • Ghee!
  • Ruy Diaz

The problem I have with making fun of Johnny Manziel, is that he was in that situation through no fault of his own. He was invited to the draft, and most analysts expected him to go higher. He did nothing to deserve that mockery.

  • Roadster73

Was looking forward for him, or just about anyone, to take over for Romo. My Cowboys suck!! Not watching football this season :-(

    • CVN65

What is it with the NFC East and idiot, meddling, wanna-be rock star owners? Jones and Snyder have ruined football in those towns. Try to get Jones taped saying something bad about a protected minority- then he’ll have to go…

    • Shelby is a Patriot

Why would you wish that on the Cowboys? Romo isn’t Tom Brady but he’s not so bad that you waste a pick on Punk Manziel, or any QB in the 1st round. They need to address defense (no surprise that they didn’t do that first round).
