The Obama administration Monday announced it would no longer oppose a judge’s order that the Plan B “morning after” pill be made available over the counter to girls of all ages. Judge Edward Korman had ruled in April that restrictions on access to Plan B were “arbitrary, capricious, and unreasonable.”

Sarah “Local Crime Story” Kliff of the Washington Post notes that President Obama, leader of the anti-science war on women, personally remains opposed to the absence of an age limit.

Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) is among those who still refer to 11-year-olds as minors and not women.

Girls and women aren’t yet free of all restrictions on their personal choices, though; minors 17 and under in New Jersey will still need parental consent to use a tanning bed, for example.

  • CR

Another fine example of lefty logic:
Those under 26 are “kids” for purposes of staying on their parent’s insurance and are too delicate to be exposed to seeing anyone anywhere on school grounds potentially saying a prayer, but when it comes to unfettered access to contraceptions for 9-year-olds without their parent’s consent, have-at-it.

Wait til Hillary 2016 runs on the platform of FREE planned B handed out in kindergarten cubbies.

Pedophiles everywhere are celebrating this momentous decision.

Maybe moms and dads should get jobs at the NSA so they can keep tabs on what their kids are doing… I hear they let 29-year-old contractors not even employed by the government wire tap anyone they want.

  • disqus_e2F2oUH6C7

Everyone should remember the name of the judge. He will be the primary in the coming law suits when kids start getting sick from taking these pills. These pills are a medication and one strength does not fit all.

    • CR

Unfortunately, under sovereign immunity rules, the judge likely will be exempt from negligence lawsuits based on his work in an official capacity as a gov. employee. This is why liberals are free to make all of these ridiculous policies that cause so much harm without fear of personal repercussions when it turns out that their liberal fantasies don’t work quite so well in reality.

Drug companies will be sued, of course, but the plaintiffs will have the burden of proving causation. Lets hope the 10-year-old taking the random drug w/ no parental permission keeps good records so she can prove she took the medication when she develops serious health issues…

Well since Obama thinks allowing underage girls to have access to this “get out of pregnancy free” pill despite it’s possible harmful side effects and without their parents permission, I hope his daughters end up partaking of them.

The point of the story is that girls can now buy Plan B easily. Those opposed to this development seem to think it’s better to prevent them doing so.

  • Love of Country

Forgive my ignorance but are they letting underage girls buy these w/o permission from their parents? Because from that day forward, that would make the Owebamao’s govt and the “understanding” liberal counselors at her school her new, closest confidants and no longer her mother. A precious and nurturing bond that took years to groom and grow is basically gone in the instant that young girl entrusts her life in the hands of “Julia” and takes those pills behind her mother’s back at the direction of those liberal fascists in her school.

And, just as they envisioned, the poor girl then eventually becomes somewwhat estranged from her so-called “meddling” mother just at the time in her life when she’ll be needing her mother the most. Then, by the time she turns 18, she’ll already be growing bitter and jaded and she’ll be voting DNC for the forseeable future. She’ll also be single and have four kids and living on govt assistance in a bad neighborhood. Well, these are some of the odds, anyway.

But what you and I call a preventable tragedy the DNC calls a straight ticket voter ie a success story. Talk about selling your soul to the devil. We’ve seen this movie before in the “progressive” black communities …. but I digress.

So sure …. in Owebamao’s world, these little 5 year old girls can have all the sex they want while dad’s away and mom’s at work. And w/o their knowledge, have as many abortions as they want. And in ten more years, they can get their ears pierced. But ten years after that, they’ll have to be mindful that the following year they will no longer be considered children by Barack Owebamao ….. 21 years after he gave her her first abortion at the ripe old age of 5.

    God help us!

If you’re capable if being pregnant, you’re biologically a woman.

      • Elaine

This from a freak who doesn’t know the difference between fertilization of an egg inside a woman’s body (sometimes the egg is found within 45 minutes for fertilization, while sometimes it can take as long as 12 hours) and just saying NO to sex? Please. Once fertilized, it becomes a BABY!
I can’t believe you said THIS:

‘bathing suit area • an hour ago
Preventing someone being conceived is not killing. Otherwise everybody who’d ever said no to sex is guilty of murdering the potential child they could have had.’

      • kerrari1898

Well someone certainly learned their biology at public school. An 11 year old has barely entered the first stage of puberty. She will be, on average, around 7 inches shorter than her adult height and is nowhere close to physical maturation in any respect.

Girls who become pregnant in their early-mid teens are 5 times more likely to die during childbirth than older women, are far more likely to experience prolonged and troublesome births, to have underweight or stillborn children, and far more prone to often crippling birth related complications, such as fistula and infertility.

Saying the mere ability to concieve means you’re biologically a woman is as moronic and ill informed as saying that the ability to say mama and dada means you’re an orator, or the presence of some gray hair and signs of arthritis means you’re biologicaly a geriatric.

        • Bathing Suit Area

Wow, sounds like being pregnant at that age is a bad idea. Good thing we’re making it easier for girls to avoid it.

  • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

    Wait a DAMN MINUTE!! Why would girls (especially Children under 15 years old) have sex? Other than “Experimenting” with it, they must be talking about Rape, Incest, or sexual abuse, in which case the baby is punished, the potential mother is forced to get rid of her baby, and the rapist/sexual abuser gets off the hook “Scott-Free.” I think the age for buying “Plan B”/RU-486 should be raised back to 17. That’s my opinion, and I’m sticking to it. #RightWard Jawamax 8<{D}

In case you’re actually mixing them up (a lot of folks deliberately try to conflate the two) Plan B is a completely different thing to RU-486.

I’m not a woman, so forgive me for asking, but it what is the single-minded obsessiveness some people (as demonstrated in the tweets above) seem to have about having careless sex? Really, I find it bizarre, almost pathological. The way some people go on about the need for easy access to contraception and abortion, you’d think pregnancy happens likes a cold.

It’s funny how willing the Obama administration is to defy courts and/or congress when it’s for something they really want, but they’re fighting so little on this.

    • Bathing Suit Area

How does this help pedophiles at all? Adults could already buy as much plan b as they wanted at any time.

      • Kim

Obviously it’s much easier to obtain something OTC than something that requires a doctor’s prescription. And a -male- sex offender can’t exactly “buy as much Plan B as he wants,” any time HE wants.

Now a predator can send his victim on her own to purchase an abortifacient while he stays quietly in the shadows with less chance of being caught.

I used to work with sex offenders and all I can say is, they know this can only help, not hurt, their predation.

        • Bathing Suit Area

Adults do not need a prescription. Men can buy plan b. Neither of these facts are new.

Sending a child into the pharmacy is going to invite way more scrutiny than just going there themselves.

This really isn’t going to help anyone’s predation.

          • Kim

You clearly have no clue how sexual predators operate. I think I’ll take more seriously the words from the predators themselves than a bleeding-heart without the foresight to comprehend the “unintended” consequences of dangerous feel-good legislation.

  • Joe W.

This is simply another way for “progressives” to get behind their push to encourage pre-teen girls to go on ahead and have a wonderful time having sex with whoever and when ever they wish. Parents?? What parents?? Who has parents these days? Most have a single parent, some have 2 “mommies” or 2 “daddies”, but precious few have a mother and a father, let alone, parents who are allowed to raise their children with a sense of morality befitting creatures above the level of alley cats. Our nation truly has devolved into the abyss that is the new Sodom & Gomorrah. Just as the Bible has prophesied.

How many 14 year olds have ended up pregnant because they couldn’t get Plan B? (Hint, it’s too many.)

So the answer to the problem is to teach how to throw some chemicals into their bodies, chemicals that haven’t been tested long term on young developing girls – rather than try and teach them how to actually prevent getting pregnant? Heaven forbid anyone actually think it’s not a good thing for 14 year old girls to even be having sex.

        • Bathing Suit Area

This pill has already been available to teenage girls for some time, but only with a prescription. No ill effects have been found.

You missed the historical trend starting in the 1950s and the explosion in the availability of contraceptives. That trend applied to both promiscuity and the spread of STDs. Plan B is the greatest “advance” in “contraception” (which is a misnomer) since the 80s. Plan B will make many believe they no longer need condoms… STDs will again be on the rise as will incest and pedophilia.

          • Bathing Suit Area

Contraceptives are more available now than in the 70s. Teenagers are having sex later now than in the 70s. Your theory isn’t working.

It removes or reduces a fear of impregnating children by removing the male adult from the need to purchase the pill. But thanks for conceding that the very legality of the pill enables pedophiles, no matter who can purchase it. Extend that logic to child-womb-murder and you’ll start to understand why pedophiles have grown in number.

Not to shock your delicate sensibilities, but billions of women “deal” with pregnancy.

You classify pregnancy as malignant. This is very anti-scientific of you. It is natural, I assure you.

          • Bathing Suit Area

I classify a child being forced into a pregnancy they don’t want as malignant, yes. The fact that you don’t seriously worries me.

          • $30423294

The pregnancy itself is no different than any other one.

Killing the child to magically make the trauma go away sounds awfully ritualistic to me. And very unscientific.

Examine your conscience. Stand up for ALL human life.

          • Bathing Suit Area

We’re talking about preventing a pregnancy here.

We prevent DISEASE. A baby is not a disease.

          • Bathing Suit Area

Who said it is? You seem determined to put words in my mouth.

      • r07a23c

Fact: (And I can’t believe this needs to be said) Allowing children to take medicine unsupervised is a bad idea.

        • Bathing Suit Area

But still a better idea than a 12 year old having a baby.

What a gift to underage girls and their “uncles”. #Science

  • JoeMyGodNYC

So the Obama administration tried like hell to stop the pill from being offered to minors. They lost and this is STILL his fault? OK….

  • gekkobear

Meh, Plan B (one version at least) is a higher dose of the same chemicals in “the pill”.

I never understood why that was prescription only. Yes you might have a bad reaction to that (or aspirin) but that doesn’t mean prescription only makes sense.

None of the reading I’ve done justifies this being any more dangerous than many other OTC drugs. You should read the labels, take appropriately, watch for issues the first few doses, and contact your doctor (as with any medication) but that doesn’t require prescriptions.

    • $30423294

And hey, as long as it’s just a little teeny human life, you get to pretend you didn’t just murder someone, so I imagine that’s kind of a bonus for you too, yeah?

      • Bathing Suit Area

Oh goody, we’re still pretending not to know how Plan B works!

        • $30423294

You have already shown you are inept at science. This idea that you can heal trauma by killing an innocent third party is seriously barbaric.

          • Bathing Suit Area

Preventing someone being conceived is not killing. Otherwise everybody who’d ever said no to sex is guilty of murdering the potential child they could have had.

          • $30423294

You’ve lapsed into word salad. You know that, right?

      • gekkobear

So I have sex with a woman, an egg is fertilized.. but her ph is wrong and it doesn’t implant and is lost.

She doesn’t even notice this miscarriage… but it’s murder because, something, something something; Right?

DO we investigate every miscarriage as a murder trial? Should we?

Hey women, if you somehow miscarry we will put you in jail for killing your baby. All 4 cells of it.

At 16 weeks when it can live on it’s own; yeah it’s a baby. At 1 day when it’s not even settled; not so much.

        • $30423294

Hey gekko meister? A miscarriage is a natural death. Like dying from a heart attack.

You are aware that a heart attack is not murder, are you not?

Remember, dear readers, THESE people believe they are all about “the science.”

They are morally and mentally stunted.

          • gekkobear

            ” A miscarriage is a natural death.”

Unless the mother did something to cause it of course, right?

Like taking any natural or chemical abortofascients; which you call murder and not a natural or accidental death.

So what about having the wrong ph level for an egg to implant from the wrong diet? MURDER!!!! or “natural causes” or “an accident”?

It’s something the mother did deliberately that stopped the baby from getting to live.. I say we call it murder and prosecute all preventable cases of miscarriage…

Why not? If you let your kid run into the street and die we’ll prosecute neglect; why not prosecute those whose diet and medical care don’t prevent miscarriages killing those babies?

They’re all the same to you; right? So it’s all murder (or at least negligent homicide)

Amazing how many millions of murderers you meet every day… who kill just by eating and drinking the wrong things.

    • Bathing Suit Area

There you go, with your fancy liberal “reading” and “facts” and “science”.

    • Dan Thorpe

The problem I have with this ruling is this contributes to the moral rot of this country. Parents should be informed period. 14 year olds should not be having sex and then be allowed to get a plan B pill without parents being informed.

      • Bathing Suit Area

Except that it doesn’t contribute to any moral rot. Nobody is claiming that young kids getting it on is a good thing.

  • bicentennialguy

So, I guess steroids will soon be available over-the-counter too. It’s all large concentrations of hormones, so what’s the difference?
