Sign of intelligent life: William Shatner appalled by IRS's pricey 'Star Trek' parody

Only William Shatner’s agent knows for sure if the IRS could have saved money by simply hiring Shatner himself to star in the agency’s ill-received “Star Trek” training video, which CBS News posted Friday night. Even the IRS has since disowned the video, which features acting and production values nearly as poor as those of the original series. If the IRS agents who “starred” in the video took comfort thinking that Shatner would never see it, we’re sorry.

Canadian Shatner isn’t the only one wondering how the clip (and an as-yet-unseen “Gilligan’s Island” parody) cost $60,000. At least two Congressmen are appalled as well.
