That tweet puts things into perspective, doesn’t it? The New York Times is reporting that an earthquake has been detected in North Korea, but just about every other media outlet is taking note that the “earthquake” is centered around the site of a previous nuclear test.

While we wait for the gravity of this news to set in and for the president to address the nation tomorrow night, let’s see what Twitter has to say.

No worries — apparently we were expecting this, according to CNN’s Elise Labott.

Update:

The White House weighs in:

Bill Clinton gave them a nuclear reactor as a reward for opening talks and communication.

  • Kingofthehill

yeah, i’ll turn my guns in right away. Can’t we bomb these nutjobs and be done with it? This country has lost its balls, what happened to “Peace through superior firepower”? Now obama’s policy is “Apologize, Apologize, Apologize”….

This is how Obama is dealing with the problem, sending a strong message, isn’t it? :[

    • BlueGood

      If O’bama WASN’T Pres:

Next weeks Weather Forecast for North Korea would be:

      “10,000 degrees Fahreheit, Cloudy Skies”

(ps.) #Ifobamawasn’tpres. would make for a good hashtag for creative Conservative Tweeters….

Uh oh, WH is looking for the “stern” letter binder.

    • kch50428

And the UN is dusting off another Security Council resolution that will say, “Stop – or we’ll tell you to stop again.”

I read they did this test as an act of defiance, for the sanctions that were levied in December, when they launched the rocket. Diplomacy isn’t working. I am not advocating wiping them off the map, but we need to get very serious.

        • beebop1952

The leadership in Washington is more likely to allow unlimited immigration going to the front of the line!

North Korea, Iran, and China…we have some major issues and a leader that is too ineffectual to deal with them. If Hagel and Brennan get confirmed, we’re $%&#ed

At this point, what difference does it make?

So, the Norkies have ’em a nuke & a rocket that can reach Cali. This could be a win. >:^)

    • TocksNedlog

They could take out both Dorner AND Bill Maher!

  • Bui van vat

    Soft power, yeah.

Have Japan and South Korea arm themselves to the teeth.

    • http://www.facebook.com/138900508 Patrick Dennehy

Japan just raised their defense budget because of rising tensions.

  • Andrew

I enjoy blaming Obama as much as the next guy, but don’t forget that GWB also did nothing after North Korea first tested a nuke several years ago. Our government continues to fail us.

Well, it was the first test, you have to try diplomacy and sanctions initially. When those measures fail you move to the next step.

    • GoSellCrazySomeplaceElse

The libs don’t want confrontation. They need to get blown away before…well, maybe not even then.

    • TocksNedlog

      Thank you, Bob Beckel.

  • bidentime

Someone is going to have to stay up late tonight and rewrite the SOTU speech and get it loaded on the teleprompter for POTUS.

    • beebop1952

Are you kidding? Nothing that shows how he leads from his behind will make the cut.

  • Linda (Lou) Norris

Add this to the list of #thingswewillnothearaboutintheSOTU

Where are the global warming ijits ???? The North Koreans are going to cause the earth’s crust to move and send the whole planet into chaos .

  • TocksNedlog

Irradiating their already infertile landscape. Yep, it’s all about the collective.

  • Right Wired

Shhhhhh! Let them waste all of their material conducting “tests”…then we’ll nuke ’em from orbit.

Fact checked this one. Yup….the seven light bulbs operating above ground in North Korea flickered within seconds of the explosion. As for the dimly lit bulb in the White House, no reaction.
